Men's Frye boot... for a woman?

I desperately want a Frye boot but the women's boots don't come in my size... I would have to order men's.

I'm comparing the men's Harness 8R versus the women's, and there are some slight differences, but I don't think they look drastically different. Still, I have a feeling that if I buy the men's version, I will feel like I'm wearing men's shoes.

What do you think? Can a woman wear the men's version? I'm all for crossing gender boundaries, but I want to feel comfortable in my shoes.

there honestly isn't much of a difference at all....i was expecting to see a different toe or cut or something but the womens' seem to be almost the same, except smaller. i say go for it...and i love the color on the men's pair...such a bright rustic caramel-ly shade!

Yeah... the main differences that I see are the arch (the women's is more delicate), the women's heel is a bit higher and a different shape, the women's square toe is a bit more square, and the color. I've seen the men's version at the Rack before and have debated trying it on but never worked up the nerve. I may play around with it and see how it looks on...

I see very little difference between the two so you should definitely give it a try. I also like the colors on the mens better too.

Go for it, Frye's are pretty narrow, especially the Harness. I had a pair that I wore and it gave me callouses on both outer toes because the leather is so tough. I just bought a knock off pair at Target because I love the style so much. I would try a men's pair.

I think you will be fine with the mens. Since I wear a 10 womens and an 8-8.5 in mens, I always check the clearance racks for mens casual sneaks.

I like them better than the Target ones because most of them are real leather and I'm always unhappy with faux-leather shoes and bags

I bet the men's version will be a lot more comfortable since you'll gain width. Personally I have always found those Fryes to be too masculine for my taste, so wearing them in a men's style is no big deal to me. They are basically the same.

Yes, go for it Marianna! As Maya mentions, most women's Frye boots are masculine in style, so I don't think there would be any of a "She's wearing guy boots" vibe. Try them on and let us see how they look!

I founds something really weird on Ebay today... a "Frye" boot in a size women's 12. I'm pretty sure that doesn't exist (like 10000% sure). I emailed the seller to see if they're truly Fryes or not... no response yet. I really like them, though... especially the color (and price!) -

I'm a little skeptical about those Marianna. I don't think Frye comes in wide widths either. But they might be fab boots anyway, considering they are your size and they are a wide width. Maybe for $16.99 it might be worth a try. If you're really after genuine Fryes though, I would just get the men's version.

Maya, I am really skeptical too... and I'm pretty sure they're not genuine Frye. I haven't bid yet, waiting to see how high the bids go. I'm just drawn to the color, really.

Rena, I've never bought anything used before... I generally have the same feelings toward it as you. I'm just trying to spend less money right now. I probably won't buy them.

Ooooh more boots! So fab! I love boot season so much I’m exhausted from the excitement. I am in my boots or booties almost every day. The biker pumps have come out to play too, but it’s boots 95% of the time at the moment.

Order both Marianna, and then decide. Both the pukka Fryes and riding boots are great.

FYI - I just got the RSVP riding boots in the mail and they're disgusting. They smell so bad (really cheap fake leather) and they're super ugly in person. Also, I overestimated the amount of width I need, and I was swimming in these boots. I guess I don't need an 18 inch calf circumference, nor a WW shoe (I should have known). Back to Zappos they go.

Boot shopping is difficult. Sigh.
