DH bought his own tux 11 years ago, but has always worn his black leather shoes with it. This year we upgraded getting him new tie, suspenders and cummerbund. At the zoo wedding he was the only guy in a tux who didn't wear black patent leather shoes. So we decided to get him some.

Now for the hard part: he has short, wide feet. He buys shoes a half size larger in a D, and many work out. Finding patent leather dress shoes has turned out to be a problem. I ordered two pair from Zappos. He tried them on last night and both are too tight. One of them has long, pointy toes and he thinks if he wore thin socks they would fit okay, but I am dubious. There is almost nothing out there that would fit him, although I found a few pairs of $600-$700 shoes that he in no way would want to buy unless they felt like marshmallows.

Meanwhile, time is getting short and he has no time or inclination to shop. He'll have to wear them a bit to break them in as he is going to walk the bride down the aisle and dance the first dance with her.

Anyone out there familiar with men's formal dress shoes and/or difficult sizes? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

My cat loves the double Zappos box and I want to send the shoes back if necessary before Sharkie gets attached to it.
