Memorial Day: intentional camo

I know there have been similar threads before but, this is why I wear fashion camo. Now I am 10yr. veteran of the U.S. Army my dad who passed was a marine for 20yrs, and I have loads of family who gave service to this great land. Now I used to have a severely poisoned eye in the past for civilians wearing camo. But being 12yrs removed my feelings and my eyes have softened. I find that my dad wore one his headgear and rank long after he left the Marines. I said I would never do that because old soldiers that. One thing I have learned in life is to never say never,

I find that I am attracted to fashion camo and wear it often. Sometimes rude people comment but, I just tell them you do not know my journey or my story. I used to feel like I had to tell my story to every one but, I no longer feel like that. I just say HOOA and keep it moving. So on this Memorial Day honoring friends I have had the pleasure and honer of serving with I will be wearing camo. For my good, good friend who died serving America on the battle field I will continue to be intentional about wearing my fashion camo.

Thanks for sharing your story. Camo looks good on you and very appropriate. I"m a military wife and have become sensitive to civilians wearing camo, but I'm all for veterans wearing it. Thank you for your service.

my dad was a navy vet, and although i never serviced, i know that i owe the life i was privileged to lead to my dad's service, as his college education was only possible because of the GI benefits.

Nice sweater. Hedev ( who is a vet) actively encourages my wearing of camo. He just got me a camo daypack for a camping trip we will be taking later in the summer. Yesterdays pants met with his approval. He was a little envious when I snagged a pair of Ultima jungle boots for half price a while back.

Camo looks great on you and you can wear it with pride. My story is that I taught military children for ten years and won't dare wear it myself. One needs to earn the right like you. DH and many others in our area also connect it with hunting and won't wear it for that reason.

I had never thought about civilians wearing camo, that some people might be offended. But since you have served in the military, it sure seems appropriate to me!

Columbine-You are so welcome I never thought I would become one of those old soldiers but I find myself caring so much pride for have served.

kkards- I owe my whole career, my everything to the Army from the G.I. Bill to the V.A. Home loan to become a Woman. I will forever be grateful to the men and women who have served.

rabbit- I love that cardigan it is a workhorse. I think I am wearing it thin.

MsKatieKat, Gigi- I think sometimes people are just going to be rude. I did not know camo could be such a heated and personnel topic. If we all had a chance to tell our story I wonder if there would be less judgement.

I also love your camo looks, Ladywone. Thanks for sharing your story, gives it even more meaning. I used to wear camo as fashion when young, but as I started giving more emotion and thought behind the prints I wear, I stopped wearing it. I haven't worn any in a loooong time, and don't plan to change that. It doesn't feel right for me to wear it, but goodness wouldn't judge others for doing so! Shame on those rude people for commenting, and you've a good attitude about it. That's a great cardi, sorry to hear it's starting to wear thin.
