Meet the next Freebird Quail lemming!- update

Every single time one of you posts an outfit with the Freebird Quail sandals, in finds below, I drool. Due to the heel height, I know I won't get a ton of wear out of them, so I've been unable to bite the bullet at full retail or close. I kept missing them on deep sale. Until today! Viva posted her OOTD in these sandals and after clicking the find link to find them sold out at Nordstrom, I checked Amazon. The taupe color in my size are only $66 right now. I can't wait to get them and I hope they don't kill my feet.

I hope they work for you! They have a lot of adjustment potential, so less of a gamble than some shoes. And the heel definitely doesn't feel as high as it is, because it's so stable. Fun!

They are gorgeous and I am jealous. Maybe next year I will try them. Did you read the reviews? A couple said they were knockoffs, which I had never considered a problem from Amazon until Angie warned someone in another thread about denim.

Yay! What a great deal! I love them too but they were too spendy for me. They don't have my size on Amazon right now. I should probably stalk them though and see if any come back into stock.

Aquamarine, the knock off claims are disconcerting! I'll cross my fingers that's not the case. Or even if they are knock offs, if they're still real leather and padded I would still be happy, but annoyed.

The quails arrived today. I'm pretty certain they are knock offs, based on the box and quality. However, they are real leather and so far around the house they're only ok comfort wise. I'm out of practice in anything over an inch in heel. I'm undecided if I'll keep them or not. They are cute, though!

Agreed, Jaileen. I previously thought buying Prime meant something. I've been reading more lately about the Amazon process and I think anyone can pretty much register to sell anything through Amazon. You just ship it to their warehouse and the ship it out. What's especially frustrating is they put them all in one listing, regardless of source, so it can be hard to sort the reviews. I suspect the other, full price, shoes on this same link are real.

Traci, I thought you bought them from Amazon not a third party. Did they change something to disguise who an item is being sold by?

They do say "ships from and sold by Amazon.com" but this link makes me unsure how third parties show up on Amazon anymore. I thought if it said sold by Amazon.com it was their actual merchandise and had a little more security of being real, but lately some of the way listings come across has made me wonder.

eta: I know there's another link out there where you can send in your items to amazon and they ship right from the amazon warehouse as they sell. I'll keep looking.

I don't know about shoes being knockoffs on Amazon. I do know that a lot of times if you search for something like an Apple usb cable, a lot of not really Apple products come up.

I bought my Quails from Amazon awhile ago (not at this good price but with a coupon.) The nature of the shoes is that they look handmade and kind of beat up. (You can check out the Steve Madden website which has all the Freebird possibilities -- that is their aesthetic.) I believe Quails have been around a couple years now, so it's not surprising you might find discounts if YLF women are the only people still after them!

I thought the completely unmarked box was odd. The crooked brand label inside the shoe, glued up the side of the shoe, made me think they aren't real Freebirds. That's what I was trying to show in the third picture. I'm not sure if they're real or fakes, and I'm not sure if it will influence whether I keep them.

Traci, I had a situation with a knockoff and here's what you do, before you assume these aren't really Freebirds:

You call up the company and ask someone if they do sell thru Amazon

If they do, you can discuss with them your concerns for thinking these may not be genuine, and get advice.

If they say no, they don't sell thru them, you've obviously got a watertight case for getting a full refund. (You'd need to get some written statement from the company stating that they don't sell thru Amazon).

Then you'd call your credit card company and explain your situation. They'll probably connect you with their fraud department.

Anyway, ultimately you will be refunded...plus you'll get to keep the shoes!
