Thanks everyone.
Irina, PatP, slim cat, minaminu, I’m sorry for your loss. I think one of the hard things about adopting a new furry friend is finally accepting that the other friend is gone. I cried the first night we got Siena home.
PatP, that’s a great sentiment. I did consult Brooklyn. I talk to her picture all the time. And I like to think she is counselling Siena.
Minaminu, I have seen that show! We got our dog before Brooklyn from that same rescue group.
Rachy, Siena says hi back!
Suz, we were turned down in favour of a local family. The dog in question was located on the north coast. I’m a little bit surprised at how intrusive some of the questions are when you apply for adoption from some rescue organisations. This one asked our ages and what we planned to do if we needed to go to a nursing home. Really? Anyway, we think it was meant to be. Last time around some 10+ years ago our first application to adopt a dog was turned down by a rescue organisation because at that stage we both worked full time in an office. On our second try we got Brooklyn, so it was clearly meant to be.
I went out today to get my hair cut and when I came home there was Siena, lying on her bed on her back with her feet in the air, sunning herself. Without a care in the world. I think she is settling in just fine
