measuring heel height-

always trying

I have these sandals-description says heel height is 1 3/4 inches. U-tube videos and others says heel height is measured from the center back of where the shoe meets the heel. If I measure them that way thy measure 3 inches. When ordering shoes on line I find that this is not how they are measured.

It depends on the size, too. These are the Sam Edelman Okala, in size 6 and size 10. You can see the 10 has a slightly higher heel.

You need to measure the vertical line straight down to the ground.

Interesting about the Okalas. I have that exact pair in size 7 and the heel height in that size poses no problem. I had no idea that a larger size would have a higher heel.

It makes some sense to me that a larger shoe could have a slightly larger heel. A shoe needs to balance and bend properly, so the heel height might need to adjust accordingly.

Re: larger sizes having higher heels: The style stays the same. Any line that isn't horizontal (or pointing down) has to get higher as it gets longer/ further from the angle axis.

If you look closely, you can see that the angle of the size 6 is still more extreme than the larger shoe.
I wonder if this explains why I gave up on my size 6 Okalas after just a few wears. They pitched too much weight onto the ball of my foot - seriously one of the most foot-fatiguing pair of shoes I have worn in a long time.
