Jules - Yes I think NZ and Canada share that feeling of being dominated by a larger neighbour....becoming less so though as we become more confident...
It is just one of those news stories that takes over briefly - the media are all over it!!
In Nov 2017 some teen girls from a private school rode motorbikes Topless (with knickers on) through my son’s high school. As they rode across the field one bike hit a teen boy. He had moderate injuries - from standing in front of the bike on purpose -there were photos, video footage, outraged parents and teachers, offended conservatives, delighted school boys....... this story was huge here for a week. The boy is absolutely fine now and the girls went to court. This year the gates of the school were guarded by staff on the last week of term to protect the innocent boys......you have to laugh.
My son was at home on study leave so missed out....
