Helloooo....

OK... I am feeling very antsy and I need a change. I keep thinking maybe it should be my hair - maybe I need to get this short hair bug out of my system.

DH is dead against short hair, but he would have to get over it if I did it. He says that short hair on me is either going to make me look like a butch lesbian or a middle aged conservative and that short cuts looks better on waiflike girls, but even then he is not a huge fan (forgive his political incorrectness - he is actually a very sweet open minded guy!)

Please have a look at my Pinterest hair board (with particular reference to the most recent pins) and give me your honest opinions on which you think would work? Would I be silly to give my hair the chop?

Hil- You could wear many of those on pinterest well. I like both of the ones mentioned by Diane and Deborah. As I have no expertise to match hair cut with hair texture, thickness, etc., I'm inclined not to add a specific suggestion. I love how the current short cuts let you play with structure, angles and softness. The choices you have pinned have me looking a my shoulder length hair and dreaming of scissors. Good luck with your decision.

I think you should go for it. Exactly how short are you thinking? From what I remember seeing, your hair is probably the same length as mine. And looking at your board, are you thinking more of a pixie cut? I use to have a pixie (that I absolutely loved!) but I realized it didn't get me as much as my bob does because of my bone structure. If I had a more delicate nose, I think it would have worked better (thanks Dad).

I love your hair board. I think I'll borrow it next time I I get my hair trimmed.

Well, I'd say your hair is short already... and most these cuts are just a bit shorter. It's not like you're going for a 1/2" pixie. I also think most of them are quite feminine. So go for it! You'll have your current lenght back in just a few months if you don't like it.

With your DH dead set against short hair, I would go more with the one Deborah likes and ease into it. It's not like a piece of clothing that you can wear when he's not with you.

My DH doesn't care for short hair and if he brings it up I ask him why he doesn't grow his longer then. Last time we were visiting family I called him out on calling my "lesbian haircut". My brother graciously mentioned that if I were, I would be the lipstick. Lol! (I must add that I'm not afraid of or against lesbians and not all have short hair, I have several as friends ) Frankly, I would be more afraid of the middle aged conservative label...never thought f that one, yikes! I don't dare tell DH.

Anyway, I think you'd look lovely with shorter hair. If you don't like it, grow it out. Hair is so changeable, and time flies by so quickly. Life is too short for wearing someone else's likes on your head, wear your own.

Yeah - I actually don't think it will be that much of an adjustment from my hair as it is - just a lot shorted in the neck and on the sides. I'm just bored with the variations on a bob that I have been sporting for the last while and I'm ready for a change.

Lol at the lipstick lesbian comment. Two of our best family friends are a lesbian couple and he adores both.

I'm kinda thinking the same thing as you Betti, my head, my hair. I doubt that I will start looking too conservative with a shorter do with my nose and tragus piercing and dress style.

I say go for the ones you're really lusting after. What's the worst that can happen? Maybe your DH will really love it. And at worst you can grow it back out. I think they would look great!

I liked the dreadlocked one best so I guess I'm no help. A lot of your pins had a lot of texture.

The only way to get short hair out of your system is just do it. It's just hair right, most the time it grows back. I grow and cut my hair all the time. I think you would look great in one of those cuts, and they would go well with your style.

I was reluctant to cut my bob a year ago until my stylist convinced me that she could leave enough on the top and sides to avoid the ultra-short look which my husband disliked when I tried a pixie a few years ago. It worked; I got my shorter, edgier cut, but, from the front, my hair didn't look overly cropped.

Going shorter on the neck and back but leaving a bit more on the sides and top might be a good way to get your guy used to the idea of short hair.

To be fair, when I had short hair, a lot of people did think I was a "butch lesbian" - and it was rather odd of an experience. Also, all the guys I knew hated my short hair - they don't much like my long hair either, though.

I'd say pick something to please yourself and not everyone else

I really can't add any advice to the above comments other than I love the wispy stuff on you. I should add that you really are incredibly beautiful in that unconventional way and I hope that doesn't sound insulting somehow. You have the strength of feature to pull of a pixie with ease.

What Lyn said, please yourself...and I do have short hair, and I have been hit on by another woman...but I still like my short hair

IKWYM about getting it out of your system - if you don't try it you will never know! I love your hair how it is, but when you need a change you need it. I pinned a lot of Shannyn Sossamon before my chop, too!
