Me or twee?

For some reason this crochet sweater grabbed me. It's very sweet but there's something textural about it too that appeals to me. I'm wearing it here over a black tank, but other colors are possible. (It's obviously a layering piece as it is totally sheer.) Also shown with a denim jacket.

Did I have a brain burp? Is it just too sweet for snarky me? Is it beyond irony...?

Umm. I think twee...but how does it look with a cream or white camisole underneath, or a colour?

Too sweet. It's not the fact that it's lace, it is this specific pattern of lace. Too obivious floral.

I actually think the pattern is funny, it's so ott. Giant daisies! And weird pineapple wheels! I think the cut and length is frumping me maybe.

IK, it reminds me of this Ella Moss top which is shown with the crimson Gibson equestrian blazer. I think it's a really cool look!

I see grunge - layered over a loose tank midi dress with boots and some kind of manly jacket... denim? parka?

Then again, others have voted the dress I posted today as twee, and I see grunge there, too. *shrug* If you're hiccuping, then maybe it is contagious.

Twee. Sorry, it's the long sleeves and length as much as anything. If it were a deconstructed vest, it would be more you.

I think Sylvie is onto something. If the fit or cut were different -- deliberately slouchy or deconstructed -- I could see it more. But the cut is not working somehow -- I think I don't like the sleeves, because when a jacket is over it, I get the appeal much more. I like the idea of something like this layered with a tank under a leather jacket.

Twee to me. There are aspects of it I like, but aspects I don't. The idea of lace under a jacket is cool, but this cut is too A-line for under your jacket.

Maybe over an A-line dress?

Maybe it's too much work to deserve a place in your newly purged closet?

Yeah, it should go back. I do like the texture, but it needs to be in a different piece. Failure is always interesting!

I'm wondering who *could* wear this? What would late 80s Madonna do? Probably rip the neck and the hem, and the sleeves off. And dye it black or neon.

Twee, a bit. Or at least, not quite you. I don't see it as the destination piece, but that it's leading you toward a direction you hadn't considered. Texture, a little bit of softness, some vintage-y effect?

Wait, what? Those are pineapples? Perhaps I judged too quickly. That's hilarious. Ok, I think you could grunge it a bit. What about over a black cami, off to the side exposing one shoulder and paired with some distressed jean shorts and black ankle booties?

I think I would return it and try to thrift something similar. Experiment with dying the thrifted item black, removing sleeves etc. I guess I would be unwilling to commit to a $40 piece when it needed that level of alteration, and even then, you aren't sure.

I might cut it up. Looking at the original price tag, this was $130+! I got it at the Rack.

It's all cotton or I wouldn't even bother.

Oh, it would be so cool if it was neon! I don't even think cutting off the sleeves would save it because it is so boxy. It's boxy in the "I don't know my real size" way not the "intentional slouchy" way. This is probably because it's so stiff - unless it drapes better in real life?

For $40, I'd return.

If you cut this shorter to waist length, wore just a black (or orange) bra under it and leather short shorts, you would look like some of the women I saw last week in NYC. Many many many wore those lace tops with a contrasting bra (no cami) and short shorts of some sort..

Okay, too hard. Pass! Going back! If the only way to save something is to wear it with other items I a) don't own and b) don't really want, then forget it.
