Maybe I am losing my mind...

..but I am considering white trousers for fall / winter. Are they practical for Canadian climate? No. Do I need them? Maybe not. So why do I think of them?
I have my eye on the Express Editors:

If I get them I would make them into straight leg so I can tuck them into winter boots and wear any heel height with them. I guess the color is off white but I may be wrong...
Has anybody seen them IRL? Are they off white or more of light grey?
Are they worth a try? And last but not least - am I completely nuts thinking about them?

I can't imagine it with the salt, to be honest, but maybe they don't use as much salt so that things don't get quite as dirty/slushy in Toronto as in Mpls?

I'm sure you'd look fab in winter white...

ETA: bear in mind that one of my 5 fashion adjectives is "practical" : )

Sveta, you are a styling genius, so I have no doubt you are NOT nuts.

Having said that, I will be watching you carefully for instructions because I am trying to figure out how or whether my white jeans could ever get any wear in winter. MAYBE tucked into my cognac timberlands, I am thinking. Otherwise? Not with my life style.

I wear my white jeans in winter in Tahoe in the snow - but I tuck them into boots. Not sure on a trouser vs a thicker jean in the cold, as well.

I can imagine those pants working very well with your dramatic, high-contrast style.
Practical? Well, probably not. But they could definitely look striking on you.

I also agree tapering the leg would be a shame. Love them as is for your long legs!

I love white in cold weather winters! I used to have a pair of light taupe boots that were low contrast with white, so I could wear white skinnies and tuck into those if I was going to be running around, but I've been okay wearing trousers or boot cuts with pumps or ankle boots when I'm just going from the house to the car/car to a restaurant etc. Though I tend to keep my hems slightly higher than the preferred YLF length, so that probably helps a bit as well.

Sarah, I am so practical it is ridiculous but somehow it does not help here:-( Slush and salt? Come on, I live in snow belt of Ontario, we have LOTS of those here. I guess Toronto does not get as much but I don't live there...
The only way I can wear them in winter is tucked into my snow boots until I get to work and then change into shoes or booties there. That's why flares will not work for me at all, it is either straight legs or nothing...
Oh well, I think I just need to get over them like over a flu

Well at least they're machine washable, so you won't waste a lot of money at the dry cleaners!

Sveta what stunning trousers! I love them, can't speak to them being suitable for your climate, but I wouldn't alter them. The leg line is gorgeous and would look amazing on you.

I don't understand why you would want to buy these just to alter them so dramatically. May as well look for a pair of straight-leg trousers then, right? You'd look great in these, I agree. Just save then for the other three seasons!

Go for it! I completely understand why they need to be straight legs, and if the top portion of the Editors fits you well, then you can get exactly what you want/need and that's a perfect fashion solution!

I don't wear bootcuts from about December to April because of the snow, slush, rain, salt too. It's simply not a good idea if you do any walking (and you walk to work, right?).

I like the idea. I saw a Michael Kors ad that made me want to wear white pants, white turtleneck chunky sweater and cognac belt and boots.

I love winter white pants - they look fantastic with just about any color, and I wouldn't taper the legs

Kim got it completely right why I want to taper these trousers if I get them: flares are impossible to wear here in winter and it is difficult to find well fitting trousers for me. Express Editors fit me really well but the only not flared trousers they have are cropped and this is not what I am after.

I think the idea of a winter white (or this Warm Stone might be a little greyed) sounds elegant! I picture them all drapey and soft maybe something St John-like

I know you've had great success with the Editors, so it's probably moew efficient to alter their legs to suit you rather than start a straight leg search for new brand.

Sveta, I have been looking for Winter white trousers for two years. I have lots of cream outerwear, footwear and handbags - and I live an urban life in wet Seattle. Come on! This makes total sense to me

These look like light tan/stone trousers though - not Winter White or cream.

And I do want a tapered leg on my Winter white trousers when I get them. At least I can be practical about that part.

What Angie said. I actually had a pair of winter white high waisted tuxedo trousers that were my holiday staple. My mom brought them back from Germany, for my younger sister. She wore them to death then passed on to me. Sadly, they finally hit the hay. These might be impractical for heavy rotation but I still adore them. They would be a great addition to a year end holiday/ new year capsule. I might grab a pair, as a matter of fact!!!

I'm also on the lookout for winter white trousers AND cream culottes! Like Angie, I'm looking for something slim so they can go into my boots. And in the meantime planning to continue wearing my white jeans. So uh I would also say "not crazy" but also maybe not wide leg

Angie, so you think these are the wrong shade then? It is hard to see on the screen so I was hoping somebody seen them IRL...
Definitely no flares / bootcuts for me from December until March - in any color or shade. Too much snow and slush!
I would wear my white jeans now too - if I had them...:-(
