Hey Maya -- I remembered your saying that you really disliked the new Zappos site, and I just noticed that they have a link that says "View on Zappos.com Classic." You have to find your shoe first (I think) and then this option appears beneath the name of the shoe.

Not sure this helps you since it happens after you've already searched and I think the search function was what was annoying you, but thought I'd pass it along anyway.
