Hi all

I have already posted a few May photos and I also have several I am not at all happy with so just a small selection of outfits to end the month.
90s redux in yellow and blue. I quite liked this when I wore it but on reflection could have done better with my scarf!!

My new thrifted skirt. I may pass this on - it feels a bit drab on me and I am not sure what wardrobe hole it fits. It is a lovely skirt though.

Party outfit - wore the dress in the end with some extra bling. One lovely person said it was the outfit of the night! It was comfortable and I felt great - so thank you to the forum for your support.

Finally - Just a glimpse of my walking outfit - an unusual palette for me but I did like it!

Into the closet - Levis rib cage ankle straights and my Bellroy work backpack. This only arrived late last week with one wear to date. Out - white jeans to be converted to shorts come in summer.

A great month for me work wise- but not style wise with the exception of the party outfit.

You look smashing in yellow, Sal! The party outfit is fab, too! Not sure what you say with the skirt - what about pairing it with more texture? Like a chunky sweater or boots?

Thanks NemosMom - I think it is that I have another black midi skirt plus a pair of black culottes....they sort of all take the same role. It cost me $20 and is a lovely linen designer skirt.

Thank you Angie. The skirt is black linen with white stitching and large statement buttons. I think I will put it aside until summer and re-evaluate. I am trying to move away from large swathes of black (it is a slow process...) And yes after a very challenging 2020 with work it is great to have had a really strong start to the year.

Smittie - thanks - it was lovely as it was someone I don't know terribly well. The backpack is very nice and strong and well made. It is not a huge back - it fits my 15 inch laptop, charger, mouse, two notebooks, headphones, makeup purse, glasses, phone and sunglasses but there is not much left over room. If I wanted to bike and bring a change of clothes it would be a tight squeeze (and I would definitely struggle to get lunch in as well).

Thank you Lyn! I love the dress too - in its first four years I wore it solo but I have worn it three times with a jacket now and am loving this version.

Thanks JAileen - I will try again. I have been pondering recently what to do with pieces that I like, and that suit me, but don't feel like me...

The answer of course is not to buy them, but the historic pieces that we already own.

I was just thinking that the expanse of black is what is letting you down with the skirt.

I agree Angie, when I looked at Brooklyn's asymetric skirts I realised that the shape of them is so much better, less "blocky", and maybe that is something I should be seeking out.

Re the midi skirt - I do find midaxi length skirts with a straight hem harder to wear. I got this Fuzzi midaxi skirt and actually had it made into an asymmetric skirt because it just felt too voluminous. Maybe your skirt will feel different in warmer weather when you can show more skin. Don’t forget you could switch out the buttons too for more colour/contrast. Or shorten it a little. Lots of options.

Terrific looks! My, you do wear yellow so well. I love how the slightly different shades add depth! I think you should play with the dark skirt and add some color or texture some where else to add some punch. It's a lovely outfit but lacks the contrast/drama of the other two.

I like all outfits - including the middle one with skirt ( the soft pink-blush colors are pretty on you and work great with shoes and scarf). The skirt may indeed be easier in summer with short sleeved tops and sandals.
The yellow outfit is bright and cheerful and the party outfit rocks!
