I also love the idea of the maximalism being in the details. Works for me!

My body is too maximalist already to support all the piling on. I don't refer to size necessarily, I mean there's ALGO on my petite body and the look doesn't have to be austere, but lacking the long limbs and torso to break things up, I do much better without tons of other things happening.

On a side not, I just received the September issue of Better homes and Gardens, maximalism

all the way on the decorating pages. After years of subdues hues and pared down necessities, the colors and textures leap out of the pages.

Shoulder pads make me lol like a linebacker. The only ones I can wear are the small ones, and only in suit jackets. The problem in the '80s was that they were in everything, not just jackets. If you removed them, the sleeves would then be too long. Had my mother not been there to see for me, I don't know what I would have done.

Really looking forward to see how you bring this to light in a way for the masses as some of the looks are even shocking to my self proclaimed maximal self... I had seen the longer sleeves trend and thought it was not practical for real life and almost costume like as I couldn't picture how I would write, type or even get something out of my purse.. lol

I am all about loving textures and have pieces in that category that I added to already in anticipation of the upcoming season, so will be anticipating your article in all is very detailed educational way!

Oh so fun! I'm ready for it. I've been adding more color in again, and really liking mixing brights - what you've called "superhero" combinations on me before. I'm ready to play with jewelry and scarves more too - just have to figure out the right way to do it, so I'm watching with interest!

I'm excited about maximal and can't wait to read your take on the fall trends. However, my shoulders are already sharp. Shoulder pads tend to make them round.

If maximalism means working an element of costume into everyday dressing, I am so ready. And if I can be different characters from one day to the next, even better!
