FUN. I like the black with the purple and red flowers. Heels are all too high for me though. =(

I would wear with skirts personally, with bare legs. Lace up ones with culottes.

ETA: ooh, I like Joyce's idea of painting some. Don't really think I have the artistic talent though, LOL.

I saw a lady at Starbucks yesterday wearing a pair of boots along these lines - blue and black plaid, high wedges. She was wearing distressed lightwash slim boyfriend jeans cuffed to show the boots, and a sweater knit poncho. In the words of Tim Gunn, it was a lot of look, but it seemed to suit her.

I feel like a few years ago I would have been more into this idea, but I'm liking simpler footwear now. I'm more attracted to the idea of a really streamlined boot with a bold print, rather than one with the print PLUS lacing, etc. A Valentino knockoff would make me happy.

However, I'm pretty glad I still have my crazy turquoise Jeffrey Campbell booties. They don't get worn a lot because of the heel height, but they will be really fun with my cropped jeans (which, incidentally, I'm wearing again today with the Freebird sandals!).

Those are some pretty great boots.

I saw a pair of Dries van Noten ankle boots at a thrift store once with amazing brocade fabric uppers. They were too big for me. I'm still sad about that. They were somehow dramatic, a bit grunge, a bit feminine, all at once, and I could easily picture them toned down with boyfriend jeans. The Spring Step boots remind me a bit of them.

Fluevogs are in the same vein for me, but I can never quite embrace the drama, preferring androgynous minimalism in my shoes. One of these days...
