I pondered and tried to apply all the great suggestions and feedback YLF gave me regarding maxis in my previous post. Then I shopped my closet and made one bargain purchase (the black skirt) to apply my learnings.
#1 – For Liz, Jaileen, Marilyn, Angie, Suz, and all the midi/asymmetry lovers – I pulled up the front of the skirt and tucked it in to the the waistband. Held everything in place with a snug wrap top and switched to black shoes. I have been avoiding black as I’m not sure it does much for me, so lighten up I made a pair of white earrings to pull in the white from the skirt. I do love the print on this skirt. Not sure about what I’d do for sun coverage on legs and arms, but I liked this looked for a warm evening or shady outside.
#2 – same top tucked, full length skirt – Better than the first post. I think the snugger, black top is better than the loose white tank; it improves the vertical dimension of my torso.
#3 – Full sun covered version of 2 – the linen top is better tied than loose.
#4 – Black skirt is my bargain purchase – after looking at the first post, I realized the petite sized skirts are a little short, just like my problem with petite pants. So I bought a Misses XS straight side slit. With the extra 2 inches of length I feel taller in than the more A-line and shorter floral. I might decide to size up in the black skirt, or buy a heavier fabrication – for $11, I can’t expect much in terms of quality, but wanted to see how it worked. It needs some better accessories, but I like it.
#5 – One of my favorite tops (15+ years old and I altered it after a big weight loss), untucked because I think the curved hemline helps avoid the vertical line across hips. Comfy and JFE. Question – does the short necklace look OK or too neck-shortening?
#6 – Knotted and tuck inside blouse. Probably more flattering than 5.
#7 – for sun coverage
#8 – I could not find any inexpensive white statement earrings in my quick trip to the mall while my car was in the shop, so I decided to make a pair. These are Shrinky Dinks, made with paper punches (I have a well stocked craft room)! I realized I can make them any color, so I have no excuse not to wear fun earrings.
Thanks to everyone who commented in my prior post; your suggestions made me feel more fab in all of these. Honest feedback desired.
