Matching Bag - YouLookFab Forum

Okay, let's say you had the taxi cab shoes in the finds and wanted a bag that coordinated. Matchy-matchy is not necessary, but clearly despite my UWP vibe, I don't mind the saccharin-sweet accessory vibe, either. I tend to dress in black and maybe white as an accent. Sometimes cobalt blue. But the bulk of my wardrobe is dark, with asymmetric hems (mostly on tops).

Which bag would you choose to go with the taxi flats? The DKNY one in the finds, or the Alice and Olivia car bag or the Alice and Olivia fan bag? DH has a definite preference, but I am still open to suggestions if you know of something else.

I'd go with a plain white bag, for me personally the bags shown worn with the shoes would be too many statement accessories. My favourite bag is the clear one with insert but I'd use it with plain white or yellow shoes x

I like the first bag, it picks up the black and white from the shoes and IMO doesn't compete with the shoes.

I agree with Louise. I would go for a plain white bag, or a plain black bag. For me, it would be too much of a good thing to have the statement shoes and a statement bag.

I think the taxi shoes are very whimsical and are a fun accessory, but doubling down on that motif veers into cutesy. You might get to the place where the clothes are wearing you, rather than you wearing the clothes.

Have to agree with everyone above: too much taxi; and the fan bag, though pretty, looks like an evening bag to me. I'd look for a plainish rectangular clutch or crossbody in black and white. Those shoes deserve to be the star!

Interestingly, I would have given the same advice to someone else, but for some reason thought the "matchy" bag would be a good idea. You all are right. I have plenty of black bags, and I even have a black and white bag that ought to work without going too far off into whacky, weird and matchy. My wallet thanks you.

I second Meredith, who has cleverly found more or less exactly what I would have suggested. A gingham tote would also make a nice visual pun. I like puns.

I like Meredith's idea. I definitely wouldn't go with two car themed pieces. I like whimsical pieces from time to time, though .... I have some elderly Marc Jacobs mouse flats that are still going strong.

Meredith's pick hits the perfect note, as long as the tote shape works for you. If you want a different shape and can't find it in b&w check, you may find that polka dots, stripes, or other b&w geometric patterns also work.
