Massimo Dutti Dress

I spotted this yesterday and bought it straight away. It feels very me, with black and brown. Hair unsettled and no make up. I think the dress looks super but I ought to just check that with you guys, and needs a hack. May be 4 inches?

I would be grateful for your thoughts and any comments that you may have. And here is Tux, looking fab is usual!

IMHO: I would leave the length as is for now. Dresses are getting longer, and with heels it will look shorter. I really love the lengthening effect of the midi-maxi. I am wearing two dresses this way and confirmed with a seamstress that hacking would shorten and widen my bottom like a bell.

The dress looks fab, and suits you so well! I think I would shorten it a bit, but maybe try this length with some of the shoes/boots you would wear with it first?
Your cat is really cute, and I always admire your blue and white bed cover, so pretty!

What a fab name for a cat,and he does look like he’s wearing a tuxedo as well! Lovely dress ,very you,I m with Angie but do try it on with relevant shoes and if you can get someone to pin it up for you so you can see the effect and which length you feel is best.

Gorgeous dress on you but crazy long. Yet it fits well in the bodice and waist so I guess it is intentional. What length would go best with you tall black boots?

I think you could hack to whatever length you are comfortable with and retain the overall shape.

Thank you Column, I know what you mean. But I am wary, I recently bought a freepeople dress, and it is long, for me, and flappy around my legs which doesnt feel so great.

Thank you Lyn67. Sterling, I don't think the length is very practical. I like a smaller wardrobe so I need to wear everything quite a lot and having something like this just hanging there would I think irritate me.

Thank you Eva. I am glad you think it suits me. Thank you about the bed cover! It is super useful because I like white bedding, which isn't so practical for cat hair! So it goes in and out of the washer a lot!

I took a brave decision and hack 8 inches. The Freepeople dress is a little flappy around my legs when I am walking on the commute, and I think if I had a second dress that did the same, it could be too much. It will still be about freepeople length, may be a little shorter, And longer than some of my skirts. It is back this week, so I am hoping to be on team wear later this week.

You look really good in dresses like this! I'd wear it at this length unless you want it to be a midi dress, then it needs a chop. It sounds like the swish factor annoys you, so there's your answer. Massimo Dutti is one of my current favorite online shopping sites, whatever THAT style of dressing is called, it feels like home to me.

Good fit but as a fellow 5 foot 1-er I feel it did look way too long as not an intentional maxi. So glad that Angie thought a big hack and you have been brave! Think I would have been pinning at home in different lengths first. I think midi dresses are a bit difficult for us shorties? Tend to need heels which you can wear but I am not great with- I have kept 6 pairs heels but they don't get much wear. I have an old 2008 or so beautiful midi skirt I kept in holding zone I may bring out and model for the forum when we get to Autumn here...
