OMG, I now totally see that it looks like half of an old-school bra top -- and I have one of my mom's very vintage swimsuits that has a top like that. Not sure I'd want to deconstruct her suit though.

Janet, it definitely looks like half a bra. A friend who is a nurse practitioner is actually getting a bra mask from someone.

Those look great! I have tons of quilting scraps. If only my machine were in working order.

I used the same pattern! Made two for my husband and son and one for myself. The fabric on mine - while cheery - turned out to be a little heavy so I’ll have to find something else to use. Unfortunately I gave away most of my fabric a few years back so my choices are limited. My son and husband’s are made from a pair of my 90 year old mother’s capris that were headed to Goodwill. I didn’t tell them that

Becky, yea! You have some fabric! Kelly sewed her masks by hand. Maybe you could, too. My hand sewing isn’t very good.

Pil, the pattern is pretty good, isn’t it? The striped fabric is beautiful. Was that the capris?

Here are some more I made, for our son and his girlfriend, and some friends of mine. They don’t have sewing skills, sewing machines or fabric.

JAileen, you have been busy!
Unfortunately the cute stripe is the too heavy fabric, but I did scrounge up another fabric today. This egg print fabric is left over from a vest I made my now 33 year old son when he was about 8 and interested in birds. Now I wonder where that vest is??

Pil, yeah, I made them like it was a production line. I really like the egg fabric.

Wow you have been busy:)

Nicely done. Why not be stylish.......

Sal, thank you. Although I don’t know how stylish a mask can be! I texted my friends when I was done and they came over and I tossed them the masks at a proper six foot distance. And my husband mailed off the masks to our son and his girlfriend. They have cats and so the cat masks are theirs. I used up quite a bit of fabric, and ran out of shoelaces. Done!

Well it is the recommendation in the US so I guess it is just sensible. And why not have a bit of fun with great patterns.

Sal, yes, that makes sense.

Fun fabric, and I love the pattern you posted — is the strap adjustable? I tried the bandanna trick, but kept wanting something that felt more fitted. Actually, I don’t want to have to wear one at all... but such is life these days... sigh.

Nemosmom, yes, the strap is adjustable. I wore mine to CVS to buy shoelaces. It stayed on. The other day I used a bandana and it felt like it was going to fall off. I don’t like wearing one either.

I’ve been using a 54 inch shoelace. BTW, CVS is out of them.

Love this. I’ve made a few diff eT patterns and found this style is a good compromise between ease! not using lots of fabric and fitting reasonably well. fCall me if I can help diagnose the sewing machine problem. What model is it and what is the problem?

Karen, thank you. I fixed it myself! I realized it was a friction issue. So I put some painters tape on the wheel to get traction. It’s been a problem ever since I had the belt replaced. My machine is an old Singer Featherweight.

How to make t shirt yarn - it works great for mask ties. No need for shoe laces.

Karen, that’s brilliant! Thanks for posting!
