My hair is natural copper red, but my eyelashes are so blonde as to be invisible. And my eyebrows just disappear, especially with a tan. Mascara looks absurd to me in contrast to my natural coloring. It's just so fake, even for special nights out. I have never been able to tell the difference between black and and essentially-black-labeled-brown, and that's all I've ever seen except teenybopper turquoise and the like.

Then it occurred to me to use the all-knowing-power of Google and voila, there is a make-up maker for me, called of all things, Just for Redheads. Doh. I dithered but finally ordered a couple tubes of mascara and a couple shades of eyebrow liner. And what do you know, it looks normal! The lighter shade, ginger cocoa, adds just a little definition for daytime, and the ginger brown is as dark as I'd want to go unless it were Halloween and I was dressing like Chrissie Hind. Same with the eyebrow pencils: they look natural for the first time ever. Not like my great aunt who had red hair and drew hers on with what seemed like a crayon.

I went ahead and bought a lipstick kit - in for a penny and all that, even though they were colors I would not have picked. I like three of the four. I have a deep tan right now, so I went with the darker palette. They gifted an eye shadow, yet again a color that I wouldn't have bought but works surprisingly well. I am packing for a trip where my DH is giving a keynote and there's a banquet and for once it feels like the make-up problem is sorted.

Here's the link. I have no interest in the company or anything, just sharing in case there are others in the same place.
