Meghan's choice of wedding outfit (dress, veil, tiara, etc.) ticked all the boxes of environmental correctness without abdicating her own personal style. I have been following her style since prior to her coming out as Harry's main squeeze, she resided in Toronto and was a spokes model/brand ambassador for Reitman's (a Canadian women's wear store for those with modest budgets).

When I saw her in the Theory jacket earlier this year (pic below) I speculated that we were getting a teaser! I think her wedding style will hold up in the long run and the pics won't date. The veil has 'family heirloom' written all over it and will be the kind of thing to hand down the Sussex line.

I’m with rachylou. I loved Kitty Spencer’s dress. I’m glad most of the wedding guest attire wasn’t over the top. It was a wedding, not a red carpet and the focus was rightly on the bride and groom. Katherine wore a dress she’d worn twice before for public events, which I think was lovely.

Good spot RunCarla!

I had long day yesterday, starting with a very early morning birding outing, and later, handing out toiletries and sack lunches at the homeless shelter, so I set the DVR to record the event on BBC America. Last night I noticed I had 8 hours recorded!!! I zoomed through a lot of it, but kept falling asleep.

I liked her dress. The off shoulder look really works for her. The tiara was small and appropriate, but I didn’t care for the style. The ridiculous part was the train. I think having a dress and veil being a little longer in the back is fine. But the view of them sitting and the train still out in the middle was really silly, I thought.

I loved the little children the best. The boy’s outfits were copies of the brothers’ outfits, and the little girls’ outfits were so cute. One of the older boys job was to hold hands with the littlest ones. Kind like wrangling cats, I think.

I also liked seeing the guests’ outfits, and their reaction to parts of the ceremony. The American minister’s theme was good, but some people, members of the royal family in particular, were making faces. It made me like them less and less.

I should add that until she got involved with Harry, I had never heard of her or her tv show. What I’ve heard of her since, makes me think they’re a good match.

My vote for best dressed (besides Meghan, of course) goes to the Kingdom Choir and especially their director, Karen Gibson. Each individual added up to a stunning whole. Perfect hair, makeup, posture -- and the one bald woman was glorious!

Oh, and I have to give props to Sheku Kanneh-Mason’s fun polka-dot socks!

Kitty Spencer was gorgeous.

My other fave was Karen Spencer. I thought she was a wow in that purple dress.

Don’t know how I missed the Spencer ladies. Best dressed guests!

Ok. I have to say I wonder about the making faces. The royals seem to like Meghan Markle very much. It’s extraordinary, especially when the spectre of Wallis Simpson looms large large... after all, that woman was such a disruption. Queen Elizabeth’s own life was changed by Wallis Simpson. I can’t imagine a single aspect of this wedding being unvetted by the Queen. Including the homily, since she is the head of the church. And Prince Charles was extraordinarily fond to walk Markle up to the altar and solicitous and affectionate of Markle’s mother.

I wonder if A) the seeming making of faces was unfortunate timing of first time live streaming shots, B) esp for Prince Phillip - age, health, and ancient hard wooden seats, and C) they aren’t all secretly atheists... lol.

Ps: I spent summers in Sussex when I was a girl... and I have to confess I can’t wrap my head around the idea of them running around down there. I NEVER imagine Harry existing outside of London, lol!

Pryanka Chopra (in lavender Viv Westwood -swoon!) gets my vote for fave outfit. Since I have always felt a little sympathy for Sarah York (nee Ferguson) - fellow ginger and age mate - I was super happy to see her looking good at the wedding. Her up-do looked fabulous from behind, but I couldn't find a pic.

I agree with Rachylou that the “making faces” comments are a bit annoying. The critical remarks about Zara Tindall seem particularly harsh given that she well into her pregnancy. Not sure what kind of facial expressions I’d be making if I was seated on a hard wooden bench in dress clothes for a couple of hours!

I stand by my comment. I believe the faces were aimed at the American minister.

Meghan Markle's mother is so cute. That twist-out hair! The tiny nose stud! She looks so full of life and sparkle.

I loved that Meghan chose a dress designed by Givenchy’s first woman Artistic Director! It seems such an appropriate choice by this feminist new member of the monarchy.

The simplicity of the dress set off her stunning, hand-embroidered veil and train. She is gorgeous, smart, outspoken, and, along with Prince Harry, has a kind heart. I’m going to be watching this new couple with interest.

Meghan looked absolutely perfect! Her mom was resplendent too, but my favorite guest was Jessica Mulroney in her gorgeous sapphire.

I didn't see anyone making faces at anyone else. (And I believe that the royals, in particular, know better than doing so.)

I also didn't see anyone trying to hide his face. And that's more than I can say about everyone here at YLF.

I loved ALL the outfits !

(I fault the press for the comment making faces - the way they juxtaposed shots. And by direct divisive commentary. One commentator was ragging on them for their ‘tame kiss’ on the church steps. Gross!)

I thought Meghan’s wedding dress was absolutely KILLER STUNNING. At first, I felt that I desperately wanted to neaten her hair “Grace Kelly” style under that vail. But after realizing how different, diverse, and untraditional the wedding was compared to other royal weddings, I appreciated the imperfection. The messy bun made a different type of statement. A very important one actudlyv. And I LOVED the feminist and global themes they incorporated into the wedding. Power to the new diverse royal couple.

The reception dress was KILLER to the POWER of KILLER.

I thought the Queen rocked her lime outfit. My next fave.

+1 to Rachylou. regarding commentary. Though BBC channel commentary seemed nice (I watched from arrival at the chapel through the ceremony and carriage ride back to Windsor).

Some of the American commentators (I'm American) in the "pre-game" coverage in days and hours ahead of the event seemed either too gaga gushy or catty or vapid.

Regarding Meghan's messy bun, I have read that she intentionally always has one imperfection like that. I am really starting to like her. I have at least one imperfection without trying. I can start copying her style.

Heard an Episcopal bishop today who knows the Bishop that gave homily. Yes it had to be approved by both Royal office and Archbishop of Canterbury ( they are friends and it was he who suggested his appearance to couple)

Love that Camilla took a big risk with her hat but I think she "owned it" and looked stunning. The whole event was such a pleasant diversion.
