Hi to my forum friends

March has has been a really busy month on all fronts here - mostly for work, but with no lockdowns at the moment, socialising has been busier too. Vaccines are here, I won't be due until the second half of the year, but at the moment there is no community covid here. That can change (and has changed in the past) of course.

I added three pieces to the wardrobe, one being planned and two spontaneous purchases - the two dresses that I mentioned in a previous post along with a pink merino sweater by Melbourne brand Cable. So soft, really good for my work, the perfect pink on me. I expect to get good wear out of this. I am yet to wear the occasion wear dresses but hope to shortly!!

I have put a couple of things in the holding zone (two dresses as per the finds below) and I finally donated my flares. I suspect I may change my mind on the Bailey Dress as it is very flattering, but I haven't worn if for 18 months or maybe even more. The black feels too short for my current preferences. The jeans I bought a size too big, and with some stretch, they really felt off with the fit after the first hour or two of wear.

I have been trying some new combinations so there are a few experimental outfits below. The rust top and white pants was a total fail - the pants slip down as the day goes on and the top is relatively short meaning my tummy was very very close to being exposed.

I have been trying to get good wear from some tops and as you will see the four tops in the finds below have been mixed two or three different ways. The three tops that sit just below or on the waistband are all so useful especially with higher rises.

As I start into the winter pieces I feel a bit over the trench coat - and the white jeans. I will sit on both for a month or two and see how I feel about them. They both fill a role in my wardrobe - but I don't feel great in this coat. Too stiff, too short, wrong collar - I can't quite pin my finger on what is wrong with it?

I am actively shopping for:

  • one to two footwear options (still yet to purchase)
  • a casual jacket, either in light grey or olive or pale blue
  • the right work blouse

I am keeping my eye out for flared or bootcut jeans.....(a HEWI for me, but I think options might be better this year)

Photo One - party look (photo taken at midnight), lunch with friends and the work look that failed

Photo Two - work look, the socks felt fun but is this silly?

Photo Three - two more work looks, one with the coat that is on the chopping board

Photo Four - two casul work from home looks

Photo Five - three working from the office looks

Thanks for looking.
