The matte could be very stylish. I like it with the French tips as shown.

I do not like the pearly cavier. 3D nails would drive me bats, and I don;t think it looks professional.

I like the matte looks. The hundreds and thousands, great if you are very, very young.

I have a hard time getting on board with the matte look because it always looks to me like a person has been wearing the polish long enough that it has lost its shine (but amazingly hasn't chipped much yet). It just looks OLD to me. In the link, it looks better with the gloss tips because it helps it look intentional.

I don't like the bumpy effect in the first photo in the second link, but shiny gemstones could work for a special occasion. I wouldn't wear it for everyday, though, as 3-D nails typically do not work well with everyday life. They last a very short time.

Ooh. I like the matte. I never wear nail polish (except clear) but this is very cool.

Personally I have to pass on these styles. I'm such a traditionalist even a deep taupe was out of my comfort zone. Having said that I do think unusual colours and styles can look amazing on others.

Matte nail Polish appeared where I live about 4 years ago - and I have worn it off and on since then. I like it for a change-up once in awhile - but in my experience it does not last as long as regular nail polish. Essie makes a matte topcoat that you can paint over any nail polish to make it matte so you don't have to commit to buying a whole bottle of matte. I use it to paint one finger on each hand with the matted topcoat - makes a fun visual to have a mix of glossy and matte on your hands. One of the advantages to matte Polish is that it dries really fast. I like to use it for a RATE "look. "

Matte could be interesting.

Different topic: do you give your nails a break between polish? If so, how often? I'm due for a new pedi and wondering whether it's time for a week or so polish-free, or if that's even necessary.

Oh my gosh, I love that black-on-black French manicure. I think the matte topcoat is cool.

The "pearly caviar" is too 3D for me. It looks like you were making cupcakes and accidentally put your hands in the sprinkles before your nails were dry.

I think *in general* clear/maybe French is most professional looking. Matte is cool looking, though.
