While I was at Nordstrom, they were having a big NARS event. I had a make-up artist do a soft smokey eye. She only did my eyes. I've really gotten out of the habit of wearing eye makeup, except for mascara. I did buy the products. But every time I saw myself in the mirror today I'm not sure if I liked it. I'm considering returning everything.

What do you think?

Yay - it looks good, try it again.
Nay - return.

I should probably make an appointment to get my eyebrows cleaned up too at the bare minimum.

I like it, but than I am a big fan of the smokey eye look. I think it works beautifully for going out, such as opera.

I like it very much! But I'm a big fan of emphasizing the eyes. I don't think this is over the top at all. Just brings out your beautiful green eyes!

I love it! Your eyes look greener than green, and the whole look isn't over the top at all. Just gorgeous Keep! While you might not use all these products on a daily basis, I still think these items are going to be a 'nice-to-have' when you want to get a bit more dressed up or what have you.

I am a yay. On the rare occasion i wear makeup an eye look is what i go for and I think this looks great on you, esp. for those times when you would want to choose a softer lip but still wanted to feel that made up pizzaz.

I think it looks very pretty. I think of you more as a bold lip person, which may be why you felt unsure of the look. So to me whether you keep or not depends not on how it looks, because it does make your eyes look big and green, but on how much/how often you want to do the eye statement vs the lip statement.

I think whether you keep the make up depends on how frequently you will be doing the eye make up.

You do look good in a softer smoky eye.

And I like it, especially for fancy going-out events, such as your opera outings. I would keep. You look mysterious.

I have been meaning to try out their lipstick, it seems to be such a favorite of the blogosphere. Are you familiar with their lipstick and do you like it?

Not a big fan unless it is done by an expert. I'm prejudiced, though, because I've seen too many students wearing this look during the daytime. Most of them look like they've slept in their eye makeup.

I love this look. Especially with the nude lip you are wearing in the pic, it is very flattering, IMO. The colours they used were soft enough that I don't think this look (maybe just slightly toned down) would be inappropriate for daytime, either. Keep.

You have gorgeous eyes. I might do less of the lower lid rimming though would still have smoky eye above.. And while it's cliche, I like the bold eye/ nude lip or bold lip/ soft eye guideline.

Kristin SF, I love their lipstick, in all formulas. Their mattes have great staying power.

Seconding what unfrumped said...about a lighter hand under the eye. The colours look like they would be easy to work with. Have to say I love your bold red lip look, when you do it, but a girl's got to have choices, right?

Honestly it's hard to say whether the make up enhances your eyes or whether your gorgeous eyes make the makeup look good, but I do think this is a great soft smokey eye.

I didn't read any replies, but voted nay - mostly because I find smokey below the eye to drag down the look somehow. If done where it kind of sweeps up, I'd be a total yay.

But, I think if you're not certain, don't rule out returning. If this grows on you there is still a question how you feel about wearing a lot more eye-make up than just mascara? It needs touching up. It is higher maintenance than just mascara.

I speak from my experience, I have 'downsized' my make-up considerably and feel it works better for me. I have a set of full eye-makeup for special occasions, but for every day I only wear eyeliner and mascara, that's all. Works for me.

I think it's a little heavy looking but then again I am of the no makeup to almost no makeup camp.

If this is something you would only wear very occasionally, you can probably make due with the makeup you have? Do you have different eyeshadow and eyeliner that would work?

I like the look but I too feel there is a bit too much under your eye. I have never been a big fan of heavy colour under my lower lids as I think it can drag the eyes down. Having a good brow shape will also frame your pretty eyes beautifully so if you have that done too it would enhance and lift your look. If you feel like giving the smoky eye a go just use is for special occasins at first and see how you go.

Exactly what Diane G just said better than I could. Maybe for special evening occasions but as shown, it seems to drag your beautiful eyes down.

I think it looks gorgeous! I really like a smoky eye when it's done well.
As pictured here it might be more of an evening look, but with just a tiny bit less underneath your eyes I think it is great for daytime.

It makes your eyes glow. I like it. 'Course, it is heroin chic, smokey eye. You may want a cleaner look.
