Major experiments: pleated pants, fun shoes, D&G blouse--please critique

Have tried a number of things and many went back. I would so appreciate the YLF’ers eyes on these, and if anyone else had considered similar, you can see what you might think.

1-3: K/R Theyskens’ Theory pleated wool pants ( of 3 TT pants I tried). I know—pleats! The appeal is tucking and belting at a higher waist feels better than in low-rise pants, and so I have some top options I could deploy. But, they are not really tapered as I had thought, and pleats stay "open" (pic 3) --similar in stock photo. The wool fabric is great for fall/winter, but means less drapey. Also, perhaps meant to be worn with dressy pumps for juxtaposition—o/w too masculine with loafers or oxfords? In one way I can see me enjoying this as a different silhouette without much care for what someone else might wear, and even if I'm the only person in the state wearing pleats; and OTOH, in motion I see the baggy legs and compare to more figure-flattering styles I have and wonder, hmm, constume-y, what am I thinking?They are sale price which would be necessary for this more “trendy” pant, vs. true classic. Maybe I can wear pleats but only in more tapered, drapey fabrics. What are your first impressions?

4-6 SW magic shoes (keeping!) found in a designer boutique I’ve avoided. Narrow sizes, on sale! 9N was instant fussy-foot heaven. Magic because made instant outfits for skirts languishing due to lack of footwear, plus can wear with pants. These may seem tame, but for me they give a comfortable but more refined option. Would almost like to duplicate in other colors-available in black but problems are, no 9N seen online, and no sale price. Shown with print silk skirt with orphaned Anthro jacket or cardi; wheat skirt with French Connection “sweatshirt .

7-8 The Big Experiment: D&G blouse. Not even the sale price and girl math can really explain, but I’m wearing it. Needs a small alteration. Should it have been a trench, or it-bag, or boots? Maybe. Will monitor for buyer's remorse.

8-9 VC (returning) Signature 2-tone slipper loafer—is really a pretty shoe; runs wide for me, but better with an insole. So tempted to keep. but am returning. The 2-tone is great, but the large beige toe cap puts me off, reminds me of Cons, and I want to go for a different color combo, “cooler” if I find one. But expect to try more of this brand.

10 -- (keeping) Adam Tucker Me Too slipper flat in perforated black. Super comfortable.

Wow, lots of shopping!! I will comment by numbers.

1/2/3 I, for one, ADORE the pants. I don't know if they are current or not current, but I like the way they look on you. I hope Angie weighs in on this. How do they feel?

4/5/6/ The Stuart W shoes are fantastic on you. Absolutely perfect. What a great find. You look great in a pencil skirt with top combo. Leopard skirt is so fun. I like the de-bombshelled outfit in 6, too.

7/8 LOVE the blouse. I like that narrow V neck.

9/10 Agree with you about the shoes. Not as fab as the other pair.

The pants feel fantastic, in part because they are NOT tapered, and because I like having the waist at my waist, belts stay put and stuff stays tucked in.

For laughs, see below old Austin Reed pleated pants. The Theyskens' ARE baggy, but are in a wool with some stretch, fitted through the seat, and do look different--as per Angie's many comments on how things evolve, so are the same, yet different.

I actually really like those slipper loafers on you, but I see why the toe cap could be offputting to you. Love the Me Too flats.

What's wrong with pleats???!!! :). Pleated pants are very on trend - and I think they will become mainstream again too.

You knocked my socks off with #1. KILLER! Add a cream or snakeskin belt for extra chic.

Angie, thanks so much for chiming in. That is so inspiring. I have belts! I had to store some nice ones once I went to low-rise, as it takes a different size to belt higher vs. lower. I really like this look but always worry about my sugar eye for some types of styles that may not look nearly the same to others. These are wool gabardine that I would wear several times a month for 3/4 of the year, with different tops & shoes. I'm glad I compared to several other styles (these are Paxitano Fruma; also tried Pervon and Perfit; go figure on where they get the names).

Ha! See! I knew my eye wasn't fooling me. These pants are a brilliant cut for you and do all kinds of great things.

And yes, the comparison to your old ones was super interesting and useful.

Those pants look wonderful on you! I wouldn't necessarily duplicate the SWs in other colors per advice on the forum, but now that you know his last fits, I would stay on the lookout for any of his 9Ns on sale. The G&B quite flatters you, so maybe the happiness factor is higher than some of the other things you could have bought? Since your foot is narrow and mine is on the wide side with bunions, I'm wondering if I should abandon the idea of getting those Me Too flats at some point . . .Sam Edelman footwear definitely runs too narrow for me so might give you a fit. . .

SW shoes - love! They look fabulously comfortable with that wedge heel.
DG blouse - love! Flattering neckline. It will probably be a real winner for you as you have already gone to team wear with it.
For some reason I can't see the Me Too slipper flats.

DonnaF, the Me Too's may tolerate a range of foot shapes. I'd say they're not as narrow as I'd like but I can wear thin socks and so can adjust, and the suede and perf's make them less heel-slipping if not. They're very soft and flexible.
pil, the flats are in the last photo but kind of absorbed by the dark matter--tights and all that--I intend to wear them at the beginning of tights-season though will want something warmer eventually.
