I'm not sure the strapless dress is too fancy, because while it is strapless the stripes make it seem less formal. Additionally, I don't find the Anthro dress to be too casual at all - not in comparison to the others. And those two are actually my favourites, but I'd lean more toward the Unger simply because the print on the Anthro might be too bold. The first VW dress could easily skew too casual IMO, but I like the second.

I love the Stella and the Raoul. The Valentino is probably the best choice tho - very cute and appropriate.

What is the bride wearing?

What an... eh... honour. Also liking the VW's. I've found her more fitted garments run a little small, so I vote for the drape dress.

Oh I love either VW dress for you - you need to try on to choose.

Fun selections. I like the VWs for you a lot. I also absolutely love the first dress that Diana posted. Sounds like it will be a lovely, low-key wedding.

Noooo.... I was typing too fast, hit something, and lost my earlier reply... here is the re-type....

VW #1 is very you - cool, unusual, can stand on its own, and yet is enough of a blank canvas that you can wear it again and again, and accessorize it in any style direction you want, and it will look like a different dress every time. Not a one-hit wonder to hang, unworn, in a closet. This dress gets my vote, unless you already have a similar dress that serves the same, chameleon-function.

I reallyreallyreallyreallyreally love the Stella McCartney! Can you justify the expense by wearing it to the opera as well? Holiday parties?

I love the Raoul too, it just says 'summer' to me. How is August in your neck of the woods? Still warm enough to support this dress? It looks kind of thin.

VW #2, I like this as well, but the neckline is kind of bland to me. But the waist and the skirt make up for it.

I like the Kay Unger, but there seems to be something missing or lacking with it. It doesn't seem Anna-worthy. You set a high style bar, and I don't know if this dress quite meets it. I'd be curious to see it on you.

The Cadeymint: I start out loving this dress, because the stripes are so lovely, and the colors, and I love the neckline and the bodice... then my eye gets pulled away, down to that hemline, and I feel all sad. The hemline upstages the rest of the dress, and it pulls my eye away from the model's face. IMO.

Carmen Marc Valvo & the RED Valentino, I feel are just 'meh'. Bridesmaid-y.

Ok, got the scoop from my friend. She is looking at tea-length dresses with some arm coverage, on the tradition size. Thank goodness not strapless. I feel those are overplayed in weddings and don't look good on a lot of people. Under $500. She is a size 16, so a bit trickier to find a dress.
I directed her to eshakti, because they customize, a lot for little money.
So that ixnays some maxis I was looking at. Full on spendy designer would be too much.
I sent her the pic of the second VW, she liked it.
BCBG dresses seem too cocktail or resort wedding. Also lots of white or white-ish dresses.
I found more options, that are cheaper

This I really like a lot, but may be too much

This seems actually really spot on

I can see you in the very last one you linked to and it would look great w your skin tone and hair color. Good luck and keep us posted. How fun and I like the small wedding approach.

The Carmen Mark Valvo or the Valentino Red. They're both really pretty and then you'd have a beautiful dress "like that" hanging in your closet ready for future events.
They're both really nice Anna.

I really love the Halston but if she's going traditional it may be too much. The Rebecca M. really looks like an afternoon wedding dress. It also seems like it could be versatile for other occasions.

I love the Rebecca Minkoff dress!

You will look great in the reBecca minkoff.

loving the Rebecca M. dress

I like the Rebecca Minkoff dress. Kind of fun that it's a 3D print and comes with a pair of 3D glasses. I was trying to figure out if it was floral or not. I decided not. It has some floral but also some talons in it.

That is a gorgeous print on the Minkoff dress. I think that one is definitely worth a try -- it's totally wearable for your opera capsule too.

I love the RM dress and the first VW for you. The second VW is great too.

The Rebecca Minkoff dress looks wonderful Anna.

It will play beautifully with a traditional tea length wedding dress whilst retaining a fashion edge.

The striped dresses under consideration brought to mind this whistles number http://www.whistles.com/women/.....ayley-stri...

I like the RM dress. It sounds like it would go with whatever the bride ends up with AND is very Anna, Also, its got statement quality without overshadowing the bride.
