I recently got these amazing Merrill boots (Captiva Strap) on sale. I also have them in brown, and one of the things I like so about the brown boots is the contrast strap at the ankle (they're dark brown, with a much lighter tan strap), as seen here. The all black felt somehow, like it wasn't *quite* right.
Inspired by some of the shoe dying successes here, I thought I'd see if I could enhance my boots to be all that I thought they could. I took advantage of being trapped in my house by snowmagedden to dye the straps gold (TRG, old gold) and silver (Tarrago, antique silver).
I'm quite pleased with the results!
