mad men saturation

ok...i think (expressing the minority view) i am mad-men'ed out. the fitted top, flared midi bottom and retro print is great and all, but i'm seeing everywhere on the web that i'm tiring of it.

i'm more drawn to the straighter and A-line silhouettes or pencil/slim midis.

I think other people may be too. I honestly had completely forgotten about the whole BR/MM collaboration. I don't think there was nearly as much hype and demand surrounding it as they had hoped.

I see this happen with so many things,.... it looks so fun and fresh until it shows up on every single mannequin in every mall window.
This is why it is so important to take the trends and make them you. Then you don't look like every mannequin at the mall.

I do know what you mean about oversaturation though. I feel the same way about Missoni Target. I ordered several things but now I'm so sick of seeing it all over that a lot of it may go back.

i'm not picking on anyone here! i think i'm mostly expressing a feeling of sameness in the shops and on the interwebs.

i was super-excited by the silhouette a couple of years ago, through about 1 month ago, then i couldn't get away from it!

i feel the same way about platform super high heels, BUT i'm still wearing mine! :p

I agree. I hate whenever there's a new, interesting look on the scene, so many retailers jump on the bandwagon and give it to us 'til we're sick of it. I do like the MM look but Come ON - not everywhere, all the time!

Oh I think we may have a little more variety in the UK, midis, maxis and minis are all represented. If anything it is the 70's Rachel Zoe look which I'm seeing the most.

As per RoseandJoan - definitely not at saturation point in the UK. But then in my neck of the woods BR has one shop that has been open 3 weeks!

I am not feeling saturated by the MM look here in the States, actually - and I'm in the shops all the time! There is lots more '70s saturation in my mind. I have the same perception as Julie and we are on opposite sides of the pond. And cardigans!!! I am at the point where if I see another cardigan - it will be too soon.

I'm still excited by the Mad Men silhouette, both flared and pencil styles, because those look best on my body type. A-lines tend to look horrible and I'm not thrilled with the 70s looks either.

ah, bj, i know what you mean....i think part of it is when so many many manufacturers jump on the trend and produce really bad/boring/tedious/ugly interpretations of the look. for me, that makes me tire of a look even more quickly.

also when a trend is 'at odds' with the general lifestyle of the people who it's targeted towards....MM style is a lot more physically confining than most styles these days.
