Lyocell Fabric Care

Hi! I got a pair of "silky" track pants from the Loft, and they are made out of Lyocell, which I hadn't heard of before. They needed ironing, and the tag says "warm" iron. That was a little hard for me to figure out, since my iron has settings by fabric type rather than a cool-hot range.

Anyhow, I looked up Lyocell, and came across this page. I can't vouch for the credibility of the information on this site (since I haven't heard of Simplifi Fabric before). But lyocell sounds pretty awesome! Are any of you familiar with it? How do you care for it?

Well I just Googled it too and another name for it is Tencel. I've never had anything made from it before, but I would treat it like silk probably. Well, without reading any of these links, I can say that I love Tencel/Lyocell. If the fabric tag says you can wash it, go ahead. My current Tencel shirt usually goes in the dryer for 5 minutes and then I hang it to dry the rest of the way. I iron it on the lowest iron setting that will produce steam. Once ironed, it hangs really nice and doesn't crease much during wear.

Lyocel/tencel is essentially rayon. I tends to shrink, so I would be careful about putting a garment in the dryer. It comes out of the washing machine feeling sort of stiff and woody, but presses nicely. Lovely fabric for hot weather because of its breathability. I totally agree with CC's posts above.
