Lusting after two tone watches

After seeing a friend wearing a two tone Skagen watch I made the mistake of searching for it online and now I can't stop thinking about one for myself. I guess I'm just bad when it comes to SYC...

I already have a small Skagen watch that I wore daily for almost eight years. But it's a classic women's watch (24 mm diameter) and now that I got used to the look of an oversized watch it looks very strange to me when I wear it. The ones pictured below are men's watches, so they are bigger (34 - 36 mm).

I don't really need another watch because I have a nice one that I do like to wear, but I have to confess that I sometimes miss my old Skagen watch, I didn't even notice when I was wearing it because it was so slim.

Thing is, we will probably visit Helgoland at our upcoming holiday by the seaside and I could get the watch there without paying VAT. I've bought my old Skagen watch there too.

What do you think, bad idea overall?

That is really pretty, and I understand what you mean about a small watch not feeling right anymore.
Since I watch is something you wear every single day I think it's reasonable to make it a priority, but only you know your budget.

My fear is that now that we've all started to wear oversized watches, tiny ones will come back in style, and the large ones will look dated!

I love two-toned watches, and I love oversized watches (actually think that it's a pretty timeless look for ladies by now) and think this is an excellent idea, Astrid. How's that for enabling you?-)

Thanks Parsley! The ones above aren't super big, in fact they are smaller than my current bigger watch (that one is 39mm). So I don't worry about it looking dated.

Thanks Inge! I think I will wait and see if we do the trip and decide then. If I manage to stick to SYC in July I might be able to buy myself a present.

I like them a lot! I don't really worry about watches being dated. I have an old watch with a tiny face and a newer one with a giant face and I still wear both equally (as well as my classic Movado).

Can you wear men's watches though? I have never been able to because the bands are always too long for my wrist and they often don't make the wider width bands in a women's length.

Thanks Diana! The band of the Skagen watches is super thin and easily adjustable, so that's not a problem. Normal leather bands for men's watches are too big for me too, but I found a place to order all kinds of bands in different lengths and widths online.

This are fantastic. I like the ladylike vibe but the size makes it a bit edgy.

Thanks Sarah! I do like the first two best and the second one has a date which is a bonus. I really got used to looking at the date at my current bigger watch.

They all look very nice. I would wait until you go on your trip and look at the watch there. Sometimes I fall in love with something online (or in a magazine) and then I finally go see it in person, I realize that it's not what I was hoping for. Good luck!

Thanks Kristin! I'm going to wait for my trip in any case. I agree that watch shopping has to be done in person, in my experience they often appear quite different IRL. I've seen the first one in person, that's the one that made me want one for myself - I didn't try it on though.

This is the one I am lusting after.. I think it is paired with an Ani bracelet.. I love the watch.

Rubygirl, that watch looks great! I personally didn't buy a new Skagen watch, but I still like them. They're super comfortable.

If you want input for the watch it would be better if you started a new thread instead of resurrecting an old one.

I can see why you are wanting to consider the watch Astrid - you wear one everyday after all and these are all lovely. I have a preference for the #2, I think I like the mix of modern style with more classic numerals. But of course you'd have to try them on and see how they feel in real life. I think this is one of those "important to your style" type purchases.

Thanks Texstyle. This is an old thread, so the question isn't relevant right now. I still have a watch similar to these on my wish list for the future, but it's not a puchase I'm thinking about right now. I need to replace too many clothes, so it's not a priority to shop for a watch when I already have one I really like.

You can't go wrong with any of the choices (and I agree about seeing watch IRL) so put the idea into the "right watch, right moment" category. You may stumble upon the perfect watch.
