Lt. Gray & Navy Skirts: What color tights & shoes?

Sorry not to post in a bit. My job is a little crazy right now, and I miss you all!!

I have a light gray straight skirt that I wear to work, usually with a navy wool cardigan or blazer. As it gets warmer, I'll put other colors with it, perhaps lt. blue or lt. green or even medium pink cardigans (and floral patterned scarves). What color tights or hose, and what color shoes, do you recommend? What about for a navy skirt?

I'm in a conservative government office, so bare legs are not an option. I do have some nude color hose that are sheer and close to my skin color, and I'm ok with them, esp. for warm weather (I know some here on the forum despise them, but...).

What about patterned grey with the grey (a slightly darker or lighter tone, depending on which way you go with shoes). Or a third colour different from your cardi (unless that's not quite conservative enough) --- say navy blue with green cardi, or rust with pink, or plum with blue cardi...You could tone your shoes to your hosiery (same colour, different shade), or pick an animal print or solid bold colour if going grey --- or given your hair colour, stick with black or dark brown too.

For the navy skirt, you could always do navy patterned tights, or black hose with black shoes. But a dark red or berry would be great if you don't mind the standout colour.

And if you do choose to go with nude, you can always add interest with your scarves and leave shoes nude too, or maybe dark brown (like your hair, again), or a toning animal print (leopard as opposed to zebra, I mean). OR you would choose a bright green, say, or cherry. I think bolder combinations could work very well as long as the shoe shape is a bit more classic or conservative (and vice versa, with a more interesting pattern for shoes in a toning or neutral colour like black, brown, grey or navy.)

Can you do subtle patterned hose at your office? It's always fun to add something like that. For either skirt you can do nude hose and neutral shoes or match hose to shoes (off black hose with grey shoes?) bookend shoes to your hair or jacket (navy) or add a fun color. There are very few rules anymore and grey and navy are neutrals so almost anything would work.

In cool weather I'd go with opaque tights that match the skirts. For cold weather shoes I'd go with either boots or pumps that match as well. In warmer weather I'd do nude (fishnets can be nice in nude), with a colored pump or metallic. You could also do sheer hose in a tonal color with matching shoes. Something with a little texture would be cute (diamonds, lace, etc).

I think I can probably do some subtle patterned hose with my shoes, along with the tonal navy and gray sheers. I'll need to look around and see what I can find, though I did get some swiss dot black and gray hose, two different pairs, that can work. I was planning to wear them with more girly, weekend skirts, but now that you mention them, they should work with the other skirts too.

The only color I'm really not fond of is brown, but I like all the other options you've suggested!
