I'm not sure I would call it timeless -- but it is definitely a classic, and it definitely has pizazz. The trench will never go out of style.

I have seen trenches in colours like this for several years in InStyle type magazines... my guess is that you'll be able to use it for a long time! (I am no expert, though.)
