I went and picked up the new shoes today and then did a bit of shopping. Here is the haul.

1/2 is a red dress with the new shoes. I think the dress looks better in person. I like the color and the wider bottom is a nice shape. In 2 I added the suit jacket (bought today) I like the red with navy.

3/4 I know the suit isn't getting much (if any) love here but it fit well and I needed both a skirt and a jacket for mix and match. I even put on red shoes to try to woo the YLF crowd. The skirt looks tight because of the way I'm standing in the first pic but the second is more accurate. I bought the top in 4 because I love the color and it is really nice soft fabric with a slub texture like raw silk. I am hoping it will work for layering.

5/6 I am trying the slouchies again. I know they weren't loved the first time but I wanted to give them another chance before returning them. In 5 I tried them with the slubby green top but can see it isn't great. I also am not sure the new shoe works with them. In 6 I put on the new top (today) and subbed out a low contrast belt with some silver chain woven in. I think this pic shows them the most like they really look. Do I have to take them back???

7 is an outfit I bought when Shannon and I shopped a few weeks ago. Its been too cold to wear. We thought it worked for pattern mixing. Yes or no?

8 is a top I bought yesterday and put with the black slim pants. I can put a jacket over it for the office when the A/C is on overdrive.

Comments and suggestions are more than welcome. I find the negative comments just as useful as the positive so please don't hold back.

First of all Dianthus, the shoes are fabulous! They look great on you and I can tell will be an extremely versatile neutral for you.

I think the suit is fantastic. It fits you really well and will work beautifully together and as separates.

I love the way you've styled the slouchy pants in #6 - I still love them but based on these two pics, prefer them without the self tie belt.

Still absolutely ADORE the pattern mix outfit in #7. It's fun, colourful and proportionately perfect!

I like the red dress but prefer it without the jacket. The jacket needs to be shorter to show off the silhouette of the dress properly.

I actually love 7! I bet a cool, beige belt and great heels could tie the patterns together quite well! But they are certainly a fun and interesting patterns.

5 and 8 are nice tops. Good finds!

The new shoes in #1 and #2 are KILLER. The coral dress is pretty too.

The jade top in #4 is just divine on you! Superb colour.

I vote return the slochy trousers. I find them too short (or too long depending on whether they should be cropped), and the fit around the mid riff a tad widening. However, good try though! I think you'll look super in the right slouchy trousers.

Love #7 as is!

#8 is fab as is.

I agree with Angie, although I am not as sure about pattern mixing. But I am timid in that regard, so don't listen to me! The shoes in 1 & 2 are fantastic, but the pants aren't working quite as well as they should. I love, love, LOVE the red shoes!

Angie, I am 5'5" but am short-waisted and don't recall ever having pants hemmed in my life and I am a flat wearer.

I just looked for the receipt for the pants and think I may have tossed it by accident. I may be stuck with them. I am going to look and see how much length I could add by taking out the cuff and lowering the hem. I suspect it would take them down at least 1.5 and possibly 2".

Shannon, I would love to shop with you again. I had a great time and would welcome another chance to shop together.

Okay. See if you can let down the hems. Take off the self belt. The trousers definitely look more streamlined with the navy jacket.

Love both pair of shoes. The blue suit is nice and I like it with the red shoes. You might consider adding a blouse/top that has red or bringing in more red with accessories. That would really make the look pop. Not really a fan of the pants and not too sure of the pattern matching in 7. Both patterns are definitely in for the Spring, just not sure on putting them together.
You look great and they all fit terrific! Good job!

I like the suit a lot! The whole discussion was more about whether they were "necessary" and good for various lifestyles so if it works for you, go for it. You can mix the pieces as separates for sure.

Hope you can lower the hem on the slouchy pants - they go well with your cool gray shoes. And the shoes are nice for pretty much all the outfits here.

You found some really great things, but i especially love the new shoes and the pattern mixed outfit in #7. Are the pattern mixed pieces partly navy that can mix with the suit pieces? If so, it looks like you have a capsule here with everything working with either skirt or jacket from your new suit. I'm so impressed!

LOVE #7! I don't mind the gray pants with the jacket, but I think you could do better. The red shoes are fab!

Stylish, I see what you mean about the red. I wonder if a red belt would help. I will look in the closet for a red shirt too. I might have something that would work.

Christianne, thanks. I know the suit discussion was circumstantial but was surprised by how few people appreciate suits. I find them almost as easy as a dress on those days when you are running behind.

Thanks Joy. I hadn't thought of the capsule potential. Yes, the skirt is navy/white and the top is navy/coral. I also have a navy dress, a coral dress, and a coral jacket. I do see a navy and coral capsule forming. I will look at Angie's list again and see what I come up with. Great idea.

My first thought was that the shoes were so FAB that the other items seemed just a little less exciting. I wonder if you could add some jewelry or other accessories to kick up the more classic pieces?

Love both pairs of shoes, they are just stunning.

The red dress is beautiful and I love how it fits you. It's a bit or an Ornella dress don't you think? I think the suit jacket is too long for this dress.

I love the suit. Beautiful fit and the peices we will work so well as separates also.

The top in 4 is so gorgeous, such a vibrant color.

I am totally not an expert when it comes to souchy pants (I don't even own any) however I think that with the high vamp shoe this is workable. If you can take down the cuff that would be great, but I feel the shoes creates a longer line and continuation of the pant leg??

Also I am a novice pattern mixer so this one is a challenge for me. I feel you need to add something to tie the two pieces together... a belt, a scarf.. Im not sure.

8 is lovely and a great work outfit with a jacket as you suggest.

Okay, forgive me, but I am SO EXCITED about the skirt in 7 and how fabulous it looks on you that I can hardly see anything else. That is wild! (tee hee) Love the pattern mix, too.

I also adore the shoes. They are wonderful. The grey ones work as a nude on you with your fab legs.

And yes, you always DO look taller because of those legs. Lucky woman!!

I really like the suit. Love the colour of the turquoise top on you. The red dress is great, too, although I agree with Shannon that it needs a shorter topper. And the other pieces are all equally terrific. I think the slouchy pants are going to work really well for you once you let them down.

Um, call me mad, but I love #6! Wouldn't change a thing there. (And yeah, I think I like the slouchies without the bow belt too)

And that's a nifty suit. Loving Joy's idea of adding the striped top in there, or swapping out the skirt for that funky zebra print! Wouldn't the top in 8 work too, with the same red shoes kept in?

I love, love, love the red dress! I also like the navy suit, but am not crazy about the jacket with the dress. It seems too long to me.

That aqua top is great. the color is flattering on you! Love 7 & 8. I'm not so sure about the slouchy trousers either. I think perhaps they sit too high. Lower rise ones might be more flattering???

Thanks Mary. . I bought the red shoes in Vegas over a year ago and they are the most comfortable heels I own. I should try to wear them more.

Texstyle I was just test wearing so will add a bit of jewellery to the outfits to add a bit of sparkle and interest. Good point.

Deborah, I tried on the jacket in a petite and regular and preferred the fit slightly in the petite for proportion and the length (about 1.5" shorter) but the sleeves were just barely long enough. I thought I bought the petite but when I looked it was the regular that came home. I'm okay with that but did prefer the shorter length. I think the sleeves might have bothered me when I reached.

Amy. I'm not sure I could wear a lower rise without risking them slipping off. The extra weight has made me more of an 8 than an X and the lower hip is a bit straight. I think when I lose a bit more weight I can belt them in more and wear a bit lower.

I forgot to scout for a challenge outfit today so may not be able to play now.
