I mentioned a while back that I was appalled to learn that "made in Los Angeles" didn't necessarily equate to the safe working conditions and fair wages we associate with US manufacturing. Here's a sad example.

Los Angeles Apparel, which is the new company started by Dov Charney (the controversial founder of American Apparel), had shifted to mask making at the start of the pandemic. After violating an initial shutdown order, the company ended up with a COVID-19 outbreak of more than 300 cases and 4 deaths amongst their garment workers.

They're now shut down again by order of the health department. Personally, I hope the management is found culpable and there are repercussions, because this is horrifying.
