Loose Leggings: What to Call Them, and Where to Find?

I recently purchased a pair of leggings that I absolutely adore! I want to buy more just like them, but this specific style is no longer available. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions on what search terms to use online, or what to ask for in shops.

They are leggings made of a cotton/elastane "twill" - nice, substantial fabric, with a bit of a looser fit around the knees and ankles (long enough to *slightly* scrunch) so that they appear almost like the traditional leggings worn in India. Bottom line, they're between leggings and slim pants ... they look fantastic and I'm dying for more.

Do these have a name? Or did I simply stumble upon a unique cut?

Deb, is there a tag inside? I'm curious about the name brand. Seems like JCP has some Worthington twill knit tights, but I've never seen leggings like that. They sound fab!

Oh my, they do sound fabulous. I would also love to know what they are. Alternatively, what about ponte skinny pants or leggings ?

I was just going to tell you that they sound like churidars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Churidar)... I am always looking for something like that myself, in a heavier fabric than my light cotton Indian ones, so I can wear them in Alaskan winters! Can you post a photo of them?

I am not familiar with that type of pants, but I guess a very similar effect could be achieved with skinnies that are way too long and therefore scrunch a lot.

Hi Barbara and Isabel! Yes, they are really fab - really slimming, too, since they don't look painted on.

They are the Saks 5th Avenue store brand, but I bought them at a local "Off Fifth" outlet store. Hindsight is perfect, I should have scooped up several because I know I'll never find these again.

I've seen "ponte" in online descriptions (i.e. Nordstrom) and I think I might order some just to check them out (do alot of online shopping around midnight - LOL). Will also check out JCP.

They're currently at the cleaners (again), but will see if I can get a photo soon. :o)

Alaska Girl and Tanya: Thanks for your input! I went to the Churidar link, and they are alot like the pants on the little girl (left side in the black and white photo). Not as scrunched as the silk (?) ones. But definitely on the right track.

The diference between these and skinny jeans is that they're pull-on, and stretchy. I wore them on a long-distance flight and they were so comfy!

Oh well ... I will post a photo asap. :o)

Ladies: Using alaskagirl's suggestion ... (thank you!) ... I googled variations on "churidar" and came up with the following. These are almost exactly like the ones I own - except for the price!! =:-O But this gives an idea of the fit. So I'm on the right track - and I really appreciate all the friendly feedback.

Nice! Other searches might be for jodhpurs in jersey fabric or scrunch leggings. I am planning to see if I can get some MADE in India when I'm there next month!
