Just opened my statement this evening. A $277 credit and.....-1400 notes (approximately).

Now, I'm not trying to game the system. But could they not revert the balance to zero at least? I forgot what the upshot was in the last discussion here. Would I be able to remedy this by phone with a CSR? Thank you for suggestions. I wouldn't have earned that many, but this is annoying.

You returned more points than you earned. You probably had a Note issued and then you returned what you purchased to earn that Note. Each Note takes 2000 points to earn, so you probably returned almost everything (besides 600 points worth). Not sure if that makes sense! They don't take away already-issued Notes, so you still have that if you didn't use it yet. So you're not losing anything in actuality.

That's exactly what I was afraid of. I would have been happy to just have it go to zero. Why does it need to go into the thousands negative? I think it's worth a call.

It goes into the negatives because you didn't spend what they gave you the note for! It's not really in the negative at all. If you have the note, you can still spend it. It just takes you longer to earn your next note. And that seems perfectly fair. It's like they let you borrow from the Note Bank. You're just getting the money in advance, really.

Having said that, I do not like to look at that negative balance either!

How long do we have to spend the notes? One year?

Oh. I didn't realize it took so many points to earn one note (I just earned my first, for $40). All righty, then. Still, it seems very arbitrary and not based on any particular calculation. Maybe I'm incorrect there too.

And yes, it does give one pause to see such a high number with a minus sign in front of it!

On a normal points day, it takes $1000 in spend to earn a $20 Note (2 points per dollar). So if you return $1000, you wipe out your points accumulation, and so forth.

Suz, you have one year to use them.

FWIW, Triple Notes Days are coming up Sept. 18 - 22 (yes, I mark my calendar) so maybe you can earn your points back then. A lot of stuff has gone on sale NOW so I doubt they'll be around then, however.

Hey Mochi - if you have an online account, you can go there and look at your on-line purchase/note-usage history - and then you can see where/how they came up with the negative amount. It isn't arbitrary at all - its all based on the amount that you spent, the amount of notes you used, and the total amount that you returned. It gets complicated, but really, it does make sense!

I have been wondering about something what is personal triple points day? I love getting the notes but until Marianna explained them I did not understand how they worked.
