Hi Everyone!

Am I the only crazy person in the northern hemisphere contemplating my Spring Outfit Capsule already? I think I am a bit ahead of reality but I am already making lists of my clothes that I want to wear as of 1 April - making maximum use of my Gray color of the year. I think it is going to look fab with dark denim, white and purple for Spring. Spring is cool here. Gosh, winter dressing is just so boring here!

Well, I’m focused on my tropical island wardrobe because the 2 big lotteries here are both up around $500M and I’m planning what I’m going to do after I’ve won! LOL

I am dreaming and planning too, more like maybe March. In my wardrobe I am planning a few purchases, but the items are year round items and replacements. A neutral short cardi, adding navy, and replacing my white sneakers.

Not crazy! How else to make it through months of cold and grey? My natural inclination once January hits is to browse cute sneakers and dream of wearing them in imaginary spring weather (spring is mud season here so alas not much sneaker wearing until well into May usually). Sometime around March I shift gears and start dreaming of high summer looks — sandals and sundresses, etc.

I’m contemplating doing like Anchie, and putting together (buying) one outfit a month. If I go forward with it, I’ll pull the trigger on another puffer to add to my collection! Today it was ‘-7degC, feels like -10degC’ and I went for a 2 hr walk in my big cobalt maxi puffer and shearling lined boots!

To cold yet here and I think I have cold spring covered.. There is always the question of what to wear for Easter, the time when we got new clothes as children.

You are getting me excited about spring and my wardrobe. The problem... I have to figured out yet what one wears for a Colorado spring. It is defiantly still snowy and cold into May. A coat or warm jacket is a good idea for Easter and even Mothers’ Day. Many years it will be to cold to open pools for Memorial Day but you can probably go skiing or snow boarding.

I will enjoy watching you all plan your spring outfits! I'm not there yet, and like Joy, I am conscious of the fact it could easily be late May before spring weather arrives, and it is always cruelly short where I live! *Sob*

TG, our Spring and Fall is also short.

JOY, every year it is a bit different here. Sometimes it warms up quite a bit in April, and other years only at the end of May. So my Spring Capsule is kind of like a 2 in 1 Capsule. Lighter sweaters and thicker jackets for early Spring and lighter blouses/long sleeve t-shirts/lighter jackets for late Spring. A little more complicated - it is my first attempt at a planned seasonal capsule. Mid-summer (July/Aug) is very hot and humid so requires a different capsule

Angie, so glad to hear I am in good company Such cool examples, of course, I love the striped top the most. The white/red stripe long sleeved t-shirt I purchased last Spring will be in my capsule.

Runcarla, if one needs clothes (I don't) I think the purchasing of an entire outfit at once is brilliant strategy. I have never done it but will keep it in mind for the future. That blue of the puffer coat is gorgeous!

Star, I buy 6 months ahead of season because living in Australia, I tend to get any US or UK purchases ahead of time. Now I am swooning at Angie's Boden collection which could do me for winter if I am being honest.

I live in a place which many of you would find oppressively hot - we had a high of 41.7C on Friday. Summer clothing can be worn 7 months of the year with a short cold snap that we like to call winter! We have hot dry summers and cool wet winters - but never any snow and the rare drop to 0-1C in winter.

Bijoux, as a South African (expat for 6 years), Johannesburg weather is probably the best in my experience. Long summers that are not too hot, 27C and short mild dry winters. Your highs of 40C I would not be able to handle! Are you on the coast? I cannot take humidity, like in Durban, South Africa.

Our spring is short so I know by now to not get lured into spring shopping.

At home we have summer and not summer, sort of evenly split. I am a sale shopper that buys off season so have already finished most of our shopping for next summer. If something in season is unique or fills a gap I will add it, but most of the work is done in advance. I like being able to roll into the new season without big gaps, as shopping seasonally can be risky if the season delivers trends or colors that don’t resonate or if I don’t have time to shop.
