Janet - yes to the Cole Haans . Bj1111 suggested them and they are exactly what looking for . Sadly , there are almost no sizes available . The Fryes are a little rounder looking than I like , plus $$$ , which I’m not going to do for anything white , but I appreciate the suggestion !

Lisa, I am not sure if you would be interested, but I wear Keds all the time and have done for decades.
I still only wear the basic Champions in Oxford and slip-on style because I need Narrows, but you could maybe wear some of the others.
Keds.com, Zappos, and DSW have great selections.

Also, have you seen the ones Janet found?  They are the slip-on version and still available in size 8 as far as I can tell (unless availability varies by country, since they will only show me the price in €).

Vivian !! Yes, these have been linked somewhere in this thread toward the beginning. It's not that I don't like lace-ups, but these are veering into shoe territory, when it's a sneaker I want. If they are too shoe-ish, they turn into spring -summer footwear, IYKWIM. But I do like them !
