Looking for any suggestions on new perfumes...

Hi
my name is Jacquii, I'm new to the forum scene but I've been at Sephora for the
past week smelling everything possible with no avail. I need help I've always
worn Pink Sugar from Aquolina...but I do believe it's time for me to grow up
and buy a better scent. My budget is average I don't think I should have to
spend $150 to smell good! Let me know what you guys are in love with at the
moment.

I would be interested as well.

One suggestion I have is that the people are Nordstroms are very knowledgeable. If you go and explain to them what you might have in mind they may have suggestions. At least they did for me. They even let me take home a sampler.

i would start with the types of scents you like in general terms...like sporty, spicy, fresh, floral, complex, evening....lots of descriptors.

then i would hone in on the specific scents...roses, jasmine, citrus, leather, moss, cut grass, musk, honey, all spice.

then i would hunt for those perfumes that meet your requirements.

here is a great resource for perfume reviews.

otherwise, just go to the jo malone counter at nordies. there you can sample lots of individual scents that can be mixed or layered in any proportion you like.

for me...i really like serge lutens. i've worn datura noir for the past 5 years and i am planning to switch to the orange blossoms one. i've also worn 4711 (a fab bargain) O de lancome (pre 2000 formulation), chanel 19, hermes eau de orange vert. i love citrus with a green dry down.

I've been wearing Kenzo Flower - the original scent - for the last 17 years. I wear it every single day no matter what. It's as important to me as my moisturizer. I will never change my scent unless it is discontinued. It's a fresh floral.

I second (third) what bj1111 said. I love Serge Lutens (high five BJ) and you can usually find those scents for less than retail on fragrancenet. But if you don't live in a large city, it might be hard to find testers to smell the line.

But what's wrong with Pink Sugar? It's a fine scent, and if you love it, I think you should feel free to wear it. But if you want to find something similar, look in the sweet/gourmand fragrance family. You might like La Petite Robe Noir by Guerlain. It's got a black cherry note in it and is fairly sweet. The bottle is cute, too.
