I also like the look of a classic longer trench especially if going for a really good one with longevity (no pun!). I think it has elegant nonchalance! I could use a light-colored neutral and if I were to get one, would go for a longer length.
Hard to line up all the factors-length, fabric, color, doo-dads (how much trench detail, double or single-breasted).
But, I do see longer versions online in several brands. Nordstrom had some. Some were too long and dramatic for me, but some were knee-length.
I do find I can use shorter trenches much the way some use oversized jackets--sometimes I want a light topper for transit, for warmth and for going in and out of office or on errands--the 3rd piece, if you will, but don't need to wear it indoors, so don't need a blazer, and so a short trench works with a variety of pants and skirts and I can play with some colors..
