Really great (of course, haha) cotton or linen ( or a blend of both ) sweaters . I'm willing to spend - if it's the right piece. I'd even be open to two .

On-line shopping exhausts me and wears me down - so if anyone has seen anything good while out and about or while browsing online , I'd appreciate any suggestions!

eta - there are 3 or 4 from Massimo Dutti are interesting . Find collector only worked for one of them - of course it's my least favourite .

I’m waiting for the cotton one from Everlane but it might not be what you are looking for. And the striped from MD. Haven’t seen any decent linen ones.

Those are nice looking, Irina.

I tried one that was similar (not in cotton -- this was earlier) and I couldn't bear the extra long sleeves. I mean, I love how they look, but that type of sleeve drives me bananas when I am trying to work or do anything. Then again, my arms are slightly short, so maybe that contributes.

Lisa, you can sometimes filter by fabrication online -- like here, at M&S. I can't vouch for the quality of any of these, and my last experience ordering from M&S was so frustrating I would not recommend it, so I don't know why I thought of them...but you never know. One of theirs is a nice looking V neck in linen that comes in olive.

I can vouch for the quality of the J. Crew rollneck ones I got. But, um, J. Crew. So pricey in Canada. (I would not have paid the CAD price, I don't think -- would have waited for a sale, by which time it would be summer and I wouldn't need them.)

In the past I have had cotton ones from Gap that were just horrible -- they stretched out so fast and/or faded really quickly.

My favorite and best behaving linen sweater was a RL brand men's one , happened to be in an indigo with depth. Wonder if anyone here has a line to really nice menswear linen sweaters?

I have this in a long sleeve from Uniqlo (currently out of stock). You see me in it all the time. It stretches (like in photo) so I don’t hesitate to shrink it up by washing it regular cycle.

BTW, I ordered a 100% linen sweater from MD and returned it. Maybe in indigo it wasn’t great but they looked too thin to me.

Yeah, that is a real problem with linen sweaters....they are usually really thin, especially at a lower price point.

Have you tried Kotn? Not sure what style you are looking for but I got two from Kotn and the quality is really good! And Canadian company too

Suz - yes, I know all about filtering . The entire search process is tedious . Hoping someone has seen something in person or bought themselves that is good ! That v neck is lovely but I can’t wear them - they’re all too low on me .

Carla - that’s the issue with Uniqlo I find so frustrating . Things are never in stock . The Max Mara is lovely but a little too spendy for me . Thank you for the Simon’s link too .

Helena - not familiar with that brand. Off to check it out !

Last year I was influenced by an online influencer to buy a cotton sweater from Pact. I really love it.
It is marketed to be a sustainable/ fair market company. Maybe they have something of interest for you?

Ok, I have little experience in this realm, but I have seen nice linen knits from Veronica Beard and Eileen Fisher — not sure what prices and availability would be like in Canada, but worth a look, perhaps?

Cotton knitwear! I heard someone call my name. I can only wear animal fibers with a long sleeve baselayer underneath, so wool sweaters are strictly for winter. The rest of the year I wear cotton sweaters; they're honestly one of my favorite things to shop for.

I love the Uniqlo 3D knit styles and think they're some of the best bang-for-buck you can get with knitwear. They have a nice springy texture and drape beautifully. My Finds are from previous seasons so the links won't work, but here are some from the current season:

I have the Everlane sweater Irina shows, as well as its cardigan counterpart, which it appears they no longer offer. The sleeves are long, but I really love the shape. I don't mind cuffs going past my wrist, and these are easy to fold back (they stay put nicely and look good). The weight and drape are wonderful.

I would really like to try the Everlane Texture Cotton line, both the crewneck and the cardigan, and I've also had my eye on this ribbed cotton sweater from Quince.

Pact Organic has some great options, too. I picked up both a sweater and a sweater dress a couple years ago and love them.

And I now have 2 things in a cart from Pact , who I had never heard about .

I know all about Eileen F and have had a few pieces from that line over the years but the Cdn prices are out of my reach now . Same with Veronica Beard . Sorry , I know I said I’m willing to spend , but my limits are less than many here I guess .

Boden is not really my preferred aesthetic but I do appreciate how members like that line . I’ll give it another look though!

And I wonder if one of the Amazon Essentials, Daily Rituals, Cable Stitch, or The Drop (all on Amazon) lines would be worth a try? I’ve seen some very good fashion blogger reviews, including from one I believe in and trust for independence and honesty, and she swears by some of their clothing offerings. I’ve not tried anything — yet — because as she says, some of the Amazon clothing is really great and some is laughably bad. If you happen to find something there I’d love to hear about the experience.

Lisa, the prices are in $Can. Free shipping to Canada for $170 Can but they charge for the returns. I’m mostly OK with this policy but $20 USD is bit much, imo.

I bought great cotton knitwear this season - had lots to replace! I don't think you'll fancy the silhouettes, necklines, or cables though. But FWIW here's the info, (available in many colours):

The RL Polo is the BEST quality, and feels luxe against the body. Looks the least casual. Feels silky. Fluid. Classic. My fave!!

The M&S is super fun with its asymmetrical cables. The lime launches me into orbit. Boxy.

The other three are J.Crew, and the most casual and "slubby", IYKWIM. Short and boxy. Trendy. Suz has a few too, and waving! They've been laundered and did quite well. I press them to look pristine. Size down.

Not sure what the Canadian options are, but hope you find what you're looking for!
