I thought it would be interesting to wrap up the year looking back to mid-2007, around the time that I discovered and started reading YLF, to document my style evolution throughout the years. I chose pictures as a sample, somewhat at random, that were taken approximately 6 months apart from each other from July 2007 to present.
I guess my past style, while much less fashion-forward than what I'm comfortable wearing today, was not *quite* as minimal as I remember it being. Back in the day I still loved color (especially jewel tones), bold patterns, and multi-layering. 2007 was also the year that I started wearing specs on a regular basis, and not just when I was too lazy to put in my contacts. I'm obviously still in love with skirts, dresses, and waist-defining shapes.
However, there's something about the latter outfits, from about #7 on, that really punches up the "fun" factor for me. More textural interest, mixing unusual colors and patterns, and trying combinations that were challenging to my eyes. I became a heck of a lot pickier about fit and quality, started wearing lipstick, moved towards a shorter and choppier hairstyle, and eschewed uncomfortable shoes from my closet.
I can't predict yet exactly where my style will evolve in 2012, but I have some ideas, and it's been really interesting to look back!
