My leather boots have suffered after the move and my changed lifestyle. They really work hard and have a lot to endure, namely more walking and lately snow, salt and grit from the pavements. I have a feeling new soles are in order for those that survive to live next winter too, something I did not have to do often in the past as I mostly drove around and weather was not so extreme.

The usual way I take care of the boots is storing them with the boot trees (similar here) and applying shoe cream a bit more often than usual. Is there anything else I could be doing to extend their lifespan?
