What a challenging time - hoping things improve very soon. It is really wonderful to "see" you again - and you look great in your UGGs and stylish sweatshirt. Very happy color too - I always prefer wearing a happy color if I'm feeling stressed. Animals are a nice diversion - fun to have them around.

I think about you every time I read about or see mules (the shoes!) and wonder how you've been. Ever make it out to SF these days, maybe for the opera?

Do you know about mule socks? These (below) are pretty thin, also come in black, and have little grippy dots on the bottom. I'm thinking of trying them with Dansko Pros in warmer weather.

Denise, I'm sorry to hear you've had more than your fair share of trouble this year. Here's to easier times ahead. Great outfit. Definitely the coolest rural chic ever, just like always.

Life has a way of keeping us busy, eh? Hope the roads open up soon and business picks back up! Glad to see your pups still going strong and hope mom is feeling better, too. It's always nice seeing your outfits, especially the very casual ones because they're so easy to draw every day inspiration from

Cocolion, just seeing this now..
Circumstances, responsibilities and interests change but some people are just stylish looking no matter what. You are just a naturally elegant looking person and you make everything you wear look interesting, including, happily for me, more casual pieces.

Great to see you again. And I love the beanie picture.

I'm glad this got bumped. How are things going for you now?

What a surprise to see this bumped! I'm in good health, and my life is full although perhaps more stressful than it should be. I have a few days off in a few weeks, to go to the opera in SF. Really looking forward to that! The things that have been occupying my mind have been non-fashion related this year. I am taking solace in music. Old stuff like this:

I have A LOT of clothes to fall back on, so I don't need to think much about style. But I miss everyone on YLF.

What a tough time you and your community have had. It is great to see your pictures, you look fantastic and I love the animals, especially your dogs asleep in their baskets.

Denise, it's so nice to see your post! You look wonderful as always, and I understand totally how there are times when "fashion" gives way to simply being able to dress in a way that requires little effort. You look terrific either way!

I hope things look up soon in your area. I was going to try to go to Yosemite in late July/early August as I will be in northern CA, but lodging was already booked up in the area. I need to plan further in advance! I will definitely come visit you when finally get out there!

How lovely to see you! The red is a great color on you. I do understand style shifting to more comfy wear. Every Saturday since Feb I've been sporting a hoodie, t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers to clean out my grandmother's house. I've been doing this for months, but sometimes you just have to dress for what you are doing, and not how you want to dress.

So good to see you again. Don't worry--care-giving, animals, and country living may not mix well with high fashion, but they make for a full and beautiful life. As for mid-life figure changes, I hear you, but to me you still look like a designer jeans model: those long legs are forever!

It's good to see you, and you look great! It sounds like things are stressful right now for you, so be sure and take care of yourself too.

Well, I guess I missed this a month ago. Glad to see your post, Denise. You have an innate sense of style that comes through no matter what. I like the outfit you've shown here, and I certainly empathize with your feelings about turning 59!
