Hi YLF friends,
Many of you probably won't know me (I've been inactive on YLF for the past FOUR years!) but I'm peeking my head out again to say 'hi' and perhaps become a little more active again.

I can explain! In the past four years I've separated/divorced (a sad and very emotionally challenging experience), completed writing a novel (finally....athough it's NOT sold, so no congratulations are in order yet!), signed with a literary agent, relocated from the East Coast to central coast California, and started a new university teaching job.

Fashion-wise I've been on "pause" as I try to figure out how to dress in a new climate...and new life! But I've missed you all and the warm community of YLF. Looking forward to reconnecting. xo

I have been here for (almost) one year. I understand the need for a break from YLF for various personal reasons, though four years sound like a very long time. It must be heartwarming to see that there are several fabbers who still remember you. And you will probably get familiar with several new members--and may enjoy reading their profiles (as I do).

I totally remember you, Nancy, and the story you wrote about the divorced or divorcing couple with the three young sons. (I think they were at Disneyland?) I'm so proud of you for finishing your novel! I'm working on one myself. It's a huge achievement!

Diana, I'm in Monterey so come visit! It's AMAZINGLY beautiful here...but I think you already know that!

To all who have responded (veteran and new), thank you for your encouragement and support. I'll let you know how things progress with the novel. My agent is optimistic and wonderfully supportive, so I'm feeling very lucky in that department.

I'm a bit battle-worn from the past few years....but also wiser and more resilient and open-hearted so that's a good tradeoff in my opinion!

That's so sweet of you, Isabel. I just searched online and it doesn't appear to be available anymore. It was published in The South Carolina Review Spring 2013 edition, so it's an old story. I'll try to find a copy. Thanks for your support!
