Long skirt thriftapalooza

I had the day (mostly) off and my partner did not so of course I went to the giant Goodwill. Styled almost randomly because I am lazy:

1. Crinkly mesh skirt, Lisa Bayne. Loving this for year-round wear.

2-3. Wool (merino?) tube skirt, Eileen Fisher. This might not be the greatest silhouette on my hippy self but it is a $5 experiment. Seems in great condition.

4-5. I think this is some random skirt they might sell at Costco. Does it fill a unique niche? No. Is it comfy, machine washable, and $2.50? Yes. With Frye ankle boots I let niece convince me looked good at an overpriced consignment shop. Not sure whether they do.

6-8. Poplin (?) bubble hem skirt, XCVI. Couldn’t resist.

Love the bubble skirt ! I keep seeing them in my social media feeds …..and I’m intrigued - if only I actually had an occasion to wear one .

Non-clothing bonus:

1. This tall pottery piece is unmarked and could be mass-produced for all I know but I was smitten with it.

2. Vintage Franciscan ware apple bowl. This has a crack I didn’t notice till I washed it. Also, my thought was to use it to hold scarves or socks or tights or something but it fits like three thin scarves. (There are rocks in my head where the capacity for visually estimating volume is supposed to go.) So … FAIL.

The bubble skirt is my favourite too. I have also taken note recently of these and am intrigued. I do remember them from the 80s. That ceramic pottery piece is cool. The EF skirt is a good piece too. I like my tube skirts with baggier and slouchier tops. But I don't have an enviable waist like yours. The skirt in 4/5 is cool, black and white is always a favourite of mine. So, great finds! The boots are cool and edgy. Your niece seems like a good shopping partner.

I like a lot the tube skirt on you! I like how you styled it - white perforated sweater (we are sweater twins today ) with the layering piece that peeks out and the cognac booties. Also like very much the bubble hem skirt. You look fab!

I like the first skirt and the tube skirt the best.

I think the tube skirt looks great with those boots. You could lean into the bombshell look with a wrap top. Or you could de-bombshell it with an oversized coat or jacket, or a long cardigan or long coat.

Cookie, try a boxy top over the tube skirt. Like a big sweater. Out of your comfort zone. I'd love to see that.

All great, but my favorite would have to be skirt 2--the column. Those skirts, though seeming tight, are a secret weapon for curvy hips. That silhouette is my best skirt. Also loving the bubble. What a fun thing to have.

I can sort of imagine a cropped, boxy top with some sort of interesting hem shape, but the Eileen Fisher site shows this or a similar style with a sort of loose, hip-length boring sweater and in my humble opinion it looks absolutely dreadful even on the model.

Thank you everyone, I’m still working on integrating the tube skirt into my life! I just went to the other thrift store and acquired a boxy, cropped-ish maroon sweatshirt that seemed cute in the moment but, as previously suspected, it makes me look like a blob.
