Hi all - hubby and I just spent 9 days in London and loved it! We went with another couple and it was a first visit for us all. We had amazing weather, chilly but no rain. Did lots of walking, tube-riding and people watching and this is what I observed.

Sneakers, sneakers, sneakers everywhere. I estimate 80% of people I saw were in sneakers of all types and styles. Quite understandable with all the walking you do in a large city like this. Also chunky boots, often with skirts and sheer tights and socks showing.

My friend and I talked about how it seems that anything goes with style (as Angie has reported) and that was definitely the case in my experience. Nothing really stood out as being "in" and what everyone was wearing. I did notice quite a few women wearing a striped sweater that I now want.

I didn't see nearly as much gear as I see here the US. I did see the occasional leggings but much more likely pants and jeans and skirts. The jeans weren't shredded as I still see around here but did often have the unfinished hem (which personally I like as it is much easier to hem them for myself).

Attached is my own street style, worn most days. I brought two pairs of sneakers and bought some sneaker-style boots early in the trip. I am not generally a trench coat person but found this rain coat before our trip and thought it would be perfect for rainy days - well it came in handy for chilly days too Still debating whether I should hem it a bit shorter but I kind of liked it long. I wore it or a poncho every day and was very sick of both by the time I got home. In retrospect I would have focused more on outer wear and packed a bit more variety. Lesson learned.
