Four outfits I've put together so far...I think I'm going with the grey loafer with outfit #1 (even though the Frye oxford's are more comfortable and supportive...) What do you think?

I'm trying to balance casual and current for this trip, and I don't have a ton of casual clothes, so it's a bit of a challenge.

I also plan to bring a pair of skinny knit Vince pants in olive green, a white button down and thin black pullover sweater, and my moto jacket. Debating, based on my other thread, if I'll be bringing my track pants.

I'll wear the short boots with outfit #4, instead of the tall ones. The bag pictured will be my main bag for day.

For evening (matinee of Book of Mormon with dinner after, and probably going out to a nice dinner Saturday), I'm bringing cropped orchid pink wool trousers (J. Crew), and a dress (yet to be determined) for dinner. Based on Ornella's travel capsule I'm leaning towards a sheath dress, although I don't think I'd need to mix it in as much like she did.

For a coat I'm bringing my black trench with removable wool liner and long grey wool scarf which I'll also probably wear with many outfits indoors as well as out.

Let me know what you think! Suggestions welcome.

Love #2,3 & 4 - YLF.

Not sure about #1 - there is something about the weight & length of the jacket with the tee & jeans - maybe a lighter coloured tee?

I would take the comfiest shoes too (but I can't function if my feet are sore).

I like your outfits so far! When is your trip? I'm going in 8 weeks and have been thinking of what to pack. I like that you can mix and match the pieces you have posted here. Like you, I've been inspired by Ornella's use of the sheath dress so I may take me as well. I'll be watching your post for updates.

caro, I have terrible feet! I am trying to figure out what to wear because my Naot's that I took to Europe last time are completely thrashed from using them to bike to and from work in. And I will need to pack dress shoes, so it seems I will be bringing quite a few pair...

Thanks for the comment on the top color. I think you're right - which may be why I thought the oxfords worked OK, because they echo the black and there isn't any other black in the outfit. I do have a white, black and grey sleeveless top I could try instead.

Hedgie, we leave Monday. Hopefully the weather will be reasonable...You should have lovely weather when you go! I'll report back on what works.

#4 is super cute! I love everything about it! #1 I like the gray shoes better than the black. I love how cool #2 is #3 I think you could have more fun with the shoes (different color?).

Nude hose, Jenava. I know you don't run cold like I do, but London is about walking around outside all the time. It gets cold! I see your bare little legs in those BFs and I'm already shivering. Just make sure you bring warm outfits. Trench is good, but look after the legs too.

I love the black and white bomber on you and #2 looks great also. In #1 I prefer the grey loafers. I don't have advice, apart from comfortable shoes, but I am planning to learn from you!

Wow, you look so stylish! I echo Angie. I just returned from record cold temps in London, although I think it's warmed up a bit now. You might want to bring black tights for #2 - so you have uniqlo or something similar? And for #3, you won't be able to go sockless, so be prepared.

I'm jealous you'll see the Book of Mormon! For various reasons, we missed it when it came thru Mpls. Enjoy!

Like Angie, I want to advise hose (or leg covering pants). I was in London when Sarah was there and it was record-breaking cold, as you know, and by now it must be a lot better -- but still. Given the way the weather has been playing out, I would err on the safe side.

As for shoes, I brought FOUR pair to London! For me, having a variety is key. In the end, due to wet and cold, I only wore two of the ones I brought, but I was really glad to have the options available.

Jenava, great outfits. Can't advise re travel packing but these look amazing. Particularly #2, edgy and interesting. Judging from street style pics I see from London, I think this will be perfect.

I am bringing socks - grey ones. I think I'll be OK with those - I can always roll-down the bf jeans as they are full length. And, I will run and grab my tights to stash in my bag for wearing with my skirt and dress - we are leaving in 30 mins for the airport. (-:

As an aside, very shocked and saddened by the news from Boston. My mom's good friend is running in the marathon but she is safe and not hurt. Looks like is was mostly spectators that were injured? Hope all the Bostonians YLFers are OK!

We will be in London for Margaret Thatcher's funeral, so am a little amped up over that already because of course there will be high security around that.

Late to the party but I just wanted to tell you how fab your outfits are. I LOVE the bomber on you and the drama of the high low blouse with the denim jacket. You always look like you stepped out of a magazine layout. SO pretty!

Also late, but want to say that you have some wonderful outfits. Comfort trumps when it comes footwear for London, so I hope you took the Fryes.
