Logistics - layering leather under coat?

Hi all,

I know this is a silly question but anyhow,

For all of you living in full 4 season weather, can I ask a question of logistics? I'm just wondering, how do you gals go about wearing leather jackets in winter? Do you use them as a layering piece and wear your coats over them? Or do you wear them after removing the coat? I can't seem to be able to wear my leather jackets past October. Thoughts?

I brought it up a while back too. Angie says it's fine to layer your wool coat on top of a leather jacket, and then wear the leather jacket indoors. She does it all the time.

If it's a fitted leather jacket, you can layer it under a larger, warmer wool or puffer coat and enjoy the leather look when you get indoors, as Claire said. I agree that leather jackets, unless they're fur-lined, aren't warm enough in subzero temperatures, Zapotee! Luckily spring is around the corner!

I buy my winter coats roomy enough so they fit over all sorts of jackets. Layering is a necessity where I live (Great Lakes region, US). I say go for it!

I definitely layer my leather jackets underneath my winter coat and then just remove the winter coat indoors. Of course this means you need to have a winter coat that has enough room underneath it to accommodate the leather jacket.

Sal of alreadypretty.com, who lives in Minnesota, just carries her leather jacket with her in a bag and puts it on once she reaches her destination. None of her coats fit over leather. I only mention this in case you already have more slim fitting coats.

I know I was pretty amazed when I first read that Angie buys her coats to fit over jackets! I'm a California girl so such a thing had never occurred to me.

I have 2 leather blazers which are quite thin and I use them as indoor wear. I layer them under coats the same way I do other blazers.
When I buy a coat I always try it over jackets to make sure I can layer under them. It is too much fuss for me to carry them separately (and I walk to work :-))

I wore my puffer over my leather blazer today. I do it all winter long. I can't image putting my leather away all winter!

I think my coats are not roomy enough, maybe my puffer is. I buy my coats really fitted but I will try this out. Thanks!

I do it all the time! I always buy coats with room for layer jackets underneath! When I arrive office I take the coat off!

YES!

I wear all my leather jackets under coats as well as on their own, Zap. I like the extra warmth, and I can also keep my jacket on inside. See my outfit post later on today for visuals.
