I decided I needed a few new updates to my wardrobe for the upcoming holiday season as we are going to be busy with concerts, shows, holiday art crawls...fun! All are more on the casual side of dressy; this is central MN after all!

I have found that I really do gravitate toward the familiar, so I'm just going to go for it because typically these items are what feels best and most authentic to me. In that vein, I'm trying to choose items with a fun pattern or a different texture, etc. While all of these items are jeans or jeans styling/button down/sweater, they all made me supremely happy as soon as I put them on.

I also scored on a couple of pairs of high waisted stretch jeans from Express...they really can do no wrong with their high waisted stretch in my opinion. Sizing is spot on and I love the locked and loaded feel of a high waist!

I love unique tops like your squirrel print. You don't really notice unless you are up close. Looks like you scored some great deals especially with the velvet jeans. Just lovely

Very nice! I was in a LOFT yesterday and saw that squirrel blouse, it's adorable. I also decided after the fact to order that same dolman sweater in red...will see how it fits. You are spot-on that you have to go with your gut when it come to fit, although in my case I still have to teach my gut a few things. I really like these looks of yours!

Wow, great finds! Love both outfits. The shorter kick flare jeans look great and I adore the red velvet ones. I'm with you on enjoying the feel of being 'locked and loaded' in comfy high waists.

It is my house! We moved out here a couple of years ago...this part is the original 1930's cabin...we fell in love with how cozy and eclectic the house is. It's rather a mashup on the whole, but charming all around (except the bathrooms...but that is for another time)

You look awesome! I love those velvet pants. Also a fan of your cropped pants. Are they working well in the MN weather?

I'm a Loft shopper, too, and saw these items in the store. I wish I could wear the velvet pants in teal, but they were a horrible fit on me (and look fabulous in you). And I adore the Northwoods style of your home -- cozy wins over plumbing every time (except on holidays, when guests are staying)!
