Loft striped jacket (Angie recommendation) - K/R

I picked up the jacket from Angie's blog post at the Loft today - it was the last in my size and 40% off so I figured I'll bring it home and see how it looks in the photos. What do you think?

The fit seems OK but I am not sure about the length of the sleeves - they are short-ish but not quite 3/4 length so I tried them folded up as well. These are not really styled - I just threw on whatever I could find in my closet without digging too deep.

Makrame, I love this on you! I just went back to Angie's blog post on this and it looks like the sleeves are bracelet length on the model. I'm also drooling a bit, truth be told. I love that this stripe is navy and taupe, a bit softer than black and white. Yet it is still sharp and graphic enough to really spice up the outfits you've paired it with. I especially like the first one, with the purple top and grey skirt, but it would go with so many things, as you've illustrated. I vote to try rolling the sleeves once, and then scrunch to the elbow. You look so chic and elegant, I hope you'll keep it!

You've shown how surprisingly versatile this jacket is! I think the sleeve length is fine, at least to my eye.

I like it best open.

Looks like a great fit, Makrame. You can push up or scrunch sleeves if this length bothers you - I do it all the time because sleeves are always too short on me!

All VERY nice, Makrame! And I think it's actually a very good fit. I actually asked about sleeve lengths on that blog post, and it does seem as though the shorter length is intentional. Looks good to my eye, both let down and scrunched/rolled. My favourite combos here are #1 and #5, though I also really love the pattern mix with the top in #3/#4

It's a really great jacket don't you think, Makrame? Nicely made, and fits you well. I like the sleeve length but understand that it's an acquired taste.

You did a great job of throwing stuff together in your wardrobe without "styling the outfits". Well done! I just love #4.

Hi Angie, thanks for your recommendation - it is a really nice jacket for sure. I have another Loft jacket from this fall that seems to be really good quality, not flimsy like a lot of their other stuff, so I was wondering whether their jackets are better made than other items.

I am OK with the sleeve length as long as it looks/is intentional.

Thanks for the kind comments, everyone! I debated whether to show some of the combos because I was not sure they worked so I am pleasantly surprised by the warm reception. The fit and quality are definitely good on this jacket, and the price was great - under $60 on sale.

I also debated whether this is a bit too preppy for me, and a few comments on the blog about the striped trend being too common now also gave me pause. But considering that I have always liked stripes, I figured I might as well make this trend my own, and not worry too much about looking like a part of the crowd. I have really enjoyed wearing blazers and jackets this year but only have two lightweight tailored jackets so this will be a nice addition.

One comment for anyone who is considering this jacket - care instructions say "dry clean only", which one would expect for a lined jacket. Since this will likely be a warm-weather piece, this may be a bit limiting.

Hi Polly, I was actually wondering whether it being 40% off and the last one was clouding my judgement a bit, so I kept saying to the SA "I am just taking it home to try, I might bring it back".

I also had a funny exchange with her when she asked whether I wanted to keep the hanger. I said "No, thank you, I have too many hangers", to which she immediately replied "That just means you do not have enough clothes!". My closet would disagree, but it was still amusing.

I like the taupe and black stripes, so makes up for a completely other color scheme than tzhe black and whites...Landed to my faves-for inspiration!!!! -as I have almost the same blazer in black and white, long sleeve and without piping and already did almost the same style, with pencils and boots(-will have to post mines, too)
But pls. don't hide your photos!!! as it happens to me to search back a favourite and cannot see the picties anymore..:-((thanx so much:-)
